Lake of Stillness

Darkness behind these eyes wide shut
I breathe and toss the stone flake

Wobbling downwards, landing upon the surface of the ground, underneath the lake

It takes its time settling, as does my chest with every breath

The image of the stone flake underneath the lake remains clear

Drawing each breath means the center is near, it's always there

So, now is my mind, they synchronize.

Now there is rest for the monkey mind
No longer tinkering, just breathing and letting go

To hold on is to never know, what's beyond the damned flow.

There's freedom in each breath, each movement of my stomach and chest

I'm just a stone flake, resting underneath the lake
