Bird’s-nest Fern 鸟巢蕨

Bird’s-nest fern is quite commonly found in Sabah where I come from. We see it attaching to tree. And we also plant it at our backyard. We like seeing this green plant. But my wife and me never realised that it is edible until we are in Hualien area.

One day it was laid out on the table as vegetable. Then we asked about this type of vegetable, and we were told it is bird’s nest fern. This is eye opening experience for us. It is not only edible but delicious for food.

Plants have many usages. And bird’s nest fern is not only good for us to appreciate its natural beauty, but also can become food on the table as needs be.

在我来自的沙巴见到鸟巢蕨是相当平常的事，而我们看到它附在树上。在我们的后园也种植了它，我们颇喜欢看到这种绿色植物。在我和妻子到花莲之前从未意识到它是可以食用的。

有一天，当鸟巢蕨作为一道蔬菜摆放在桌子上，我们询问了是什么蔬菜，我们被告知它即是鸟巢蕨。这对我们来说是开眼界的体验，因为它不仅可以观赏，而且还可以食用。

植物有很多用处，而鸟巢蕨不仅自然界增添美景，它还可以根据需要成为桌上的食物。
