An Exercise in Compassion

in #partiko5 years ago (edited)

The world boxer is now a trigger word for me thanks to an article about a dog that I read yesterday on Facebook. The story tells about a man who owns a puppy mill who brought his female breeder boxer into the veterinarian. He told the vet "make a way for her to have puppies again or put her to down".

This man was an Amish man somewhere in the state that I live, Pennsylvania. He wasn't the least bit interested in caring about the dog or worrying about her health or safety. He just wanted his money maker back.

Reading the article made me furious just remembering how much I loved my Husky Sasha. I got Sasha spayed so that nothing would happen to her as she got older. She never had any pups, but there is a condition that female dogs can experience if they don't get spayed when they are older. They can bleed out and die from it. My landlady lost a Shar Pei this way.

The story ended up in a positive note because the veterinarian office had compassion on the dog. She hadn't eaten for at least 7 to 10 days which precipitated the owner bringing her in in the first place.

The local veterinarian called another vet for specialized long-term care and footed the bill
In the course of the treatment it was discovered the reason that she wasn't eating and was ill was because she had severe malnutrition!

My hat is off to the compassionate vet and everyone else who contributed to saving this poor dog's life.

@wandrnrose7....our compassion are nowhere near to their LOYALTY towards us! Some people will act as if they are not having six senses unfortunately, but animals, though are created with five senses are more MAGNANIMOUS than the human beings!

amen! thank you for reading and commenting. Have a good day!

I thought Amish had a bit more sense - but no... And I am happy that the dog is better and hopefully not returned to that owner.

And I knew I could count on you to write about a dog. I was wondering how many would LOL

I was very surprised to read that it was an Amish too, my understanding is they typically try to take care of their animals but then again I think about some of the horses that I see them parking around town because I'm in Amish Country and they use them more as commodities.

I was going to write about an actual boxer... Muhammad Ali was my mother's favorite boxer. But this particular article about this boxer was on my heart from the day before. ❤

I makes me mad when people mistreat animals. I love my dog, Wally, he is cool, cooler than most of the people I know. He weighs about hundred or so pounds, big yellow fluff ball, he showed at the house when he was pup and half starved to death, and at the time my kids were younger, (not that there old now) and I didn't want the hassle and house breaking him and all that good stuff, but no one would take him, and I glad no one did, that was about three years. I love that sucker. he's laying over there in floor as I type this looking at me with his ears up, as if he knows I talking about him. But I couldn't imagine having a dog or any animal euthanize because she can't have puppies. And to starve one is cruel.

Sometimes I wonder who is more human, us or the dogs.
