My Own Little Secret!

in #payitforward5 years ago

Hello Folks!

I want to tell you a little secret: I still watch cartoons or animated movies! And, here's my reasons why:

My characters never die.

Or grow old

Disney's Princess Ariel 1989 movie

Princess Ariel in 2000 movie- Little Mermaid Return to the Sea

Or sustain long, debilitating injuries.

I meet far more interesting characters

Like this spinach loving sailor

Or this long haired lady who obviously have a hair that doubles up as a rope.

A convenient tool to have in cases of emergency......

There is an entirely different branch of logic in the animated world.

I am always assured of a happy ending

and a good laugh each time!

I do not need to make a lot of explanations

when watching with kids because the likelihood of watching violence, horror, gore or any content that requires adult supervision is greatly diminished.

Of course, some problem arises still especially if one wanted to watch Barbie and the other Buzz Light Year or How to Tame Your Dragon.

It's the cheapest and easiest way to combat stress, boredom or even depression.

Honestly, how can you keep a straight face after watching this?

In the end, though sometimes, people judge my choices as too immature or childish, I simply don't care really. I will only live once and I want to enjoy my life. And I want to fill that life with so much laughter and good humor as best as I could.

Very nice post that brings out our youth and memories. I like the way you put this teoghter , very light hearted and amusing that brings smiles to ones face

One of my goals whenever I write in our community is always create something amusing even one or twice a week. It beats boredom and, I just want to keep everyone guessing what would I bring in the table next. I hope you enjoyed this.

I did enjoy it. And it came at a good time for me. It was very light hearted and I must say yes unexpected. I also appreciate the time and thought you put into the post

Perfect.

Except for the happy ending part, it's not guaranteed in anime targeted at teenagers, although we could probably put anime outside the set of cartoon anyways

Tom and Jerry is absolutely my childhood... probably the only other valid cartoon for my childhood apart from Sesame Street (if that counts). I can't stop watching at that GIF now, it explains a big part why we love cartoons, it's the only place you can have illogical fun that doesn't hurt a thing!

Yes. For entertainment purposes. For the hentai (pornographic cartoons), yes, they are out there but, I do not really bother patronizing them because, I just want to have a good laugh! Besides, there are always occasional kid visitors in my home (nieces and nephews).

Crap, I didn't mean that...I'm referring to anime movies like 5 Centimetres per Second. It's ending isn't really optimistic, and literally none of my friends like it. We are still craving for good endings lol.

Talking about having a good laugh, I always wanted to watch Konosuba...I had it in my hard drive for a very long time. My friend strongly recommended it to me as a stress relieving material, not sure about that yet since I haven't started watching (it has some pretty weird scenes that only happen in Japanese anime, though). Anyways if things aren't as I expected I could continue with more Tom and Jerry GIFs 😂

Thank you very much @powehousecreatives. It is quite an honor to be a part of your community.

Animation plays a huge part in our entertainment choices. In my opinion we can have great time at garden club or dance club. I reduced the hours spent on watching the animated video. Diversity is good.
Peace.

I love the 90s cartoons. I saw the one of that we have today... And really didn't see anything good :/

I don't know if you have seen Kung Fu Panda 1, 2,3 but, just try to get through them. It would convince you that watching cartoons or animated films is not for kids these days!hehehehe

I love cartoons and animation. The Jungle Book is one of my all time favourite films. It's a masterpiece of humour, music and storytelling that is mostly unrivalled. Tom and Jerry (original) is awesome and brilliant humour. My niece watches the new stuff and it is not so good and has lost some of it's charm.

I don't know what age you are but you might like to see an older post of mine where I pick my 10 favourite cartoons. There is a long chat thread where lots of people contribute too.

The link is here

Thanks for sharing

I am in @cheese4ed. If I can watch Snow white- I think it was like in the 1930s or something, why can't I watch your movies? Bring the list and I will try to get through it. hehehehehe

Cool. The list is TV cartoons rather than movies but here's the link.

I just love cartoons! Thanks so much for showing me I was not the only one!

If you would scroll on the comments section, you will discover that we're not alone! We are a community! Ain't that comforting?hehehehe

Yes, the old cartoons are often very good.
However, I have also more recently found that some of the ones I used to love (like Popeye) I cannot stand to watch now - the violence and possession of Olive Oyl doesn't sit well with a former sufferer of domestic abuse. Even the Three Stooges (my mom's favorite) no longer appeals to me. Or Pepe le Peu, who is a horrible stalker. We have to be careful what we show our children to be funny. Our humor is very important for shaping the next generation.

You are right on that part. But growing up, when I was watching POPEYE, all I can really remember vividly is that, I need to eat vegetables (SPINACH) in order to be healthy. What made it more wrong -if there is such a thing is for me to assume that spinach do not grow on the ground but instead were packed in cans. LOLZ!

I think that aside from the creators being responsible- there is such a thing as hentai or manga(with pornographic and very adult content really)- the parents themselves should watch- even scroll down the movie before showing them to their kids in case this happens.

This days, I often watch totally spies in youtube.
