59th Street Bridge and the Roosevelt Cable Car

Now I will share some shots of My favorite Bridge without a doubt in NYC is the The Queensboro Bridge, also known as the 59th Street Bridge – because its Manhattan end is located between 59th and 60th Streets – and officially titled the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge, but this time also focusing on the Cable car that runs from Manhattan to Roosevelt Island.

This first shot I went with Mono which I think shows more of the detail of this cool bridge, and you can also see the tower for the cable Car that runs over the East River, I know it is official called the Roosevelt Island Tramway, but I alwasy think of it as a cable car.

For this second shot I thought I would add a splash of color for the cable car.
I am sure there must be cool views as you cross over the River int he cable car, but it is something I have not experienced yet, I don't have many fears but after just through pure luck, not being on a cable car that crashed in Singapore, but for a simple twist of Fate I would have been on the car that fell and there were no surviors, since then I have a real fear of Cable cars, and even though I have tried a few times and gone to the station to take the cable car I have always chickened out and not got on it.

I have to admit that the first thing I thought of was 'The 59th Street Bridge song"

Those are great photos. I love the mono view.

My mother had a problem with Subways that went under water. The couple of times it mattered (BART San Francisco) I just lied :) Listening to that little voice inside you is important. Like life saving important.

Yes My wife is the same with going underwater in Subways which is common on many of the lines here, I don't lie as such I just avoid mentioning it

I do hope to one day ride the Cable car, but not sure I ever will, not sure why it is a phobia with me, as I have also had some luck in avoiding a few flights that crashed, and by avoiding them I mean having my plans change within hours of the flight which I was booked on, but that never put me off flying?
its something I have never understood

Love the bridge shot. Old bridges with the steel superstructure are so cool. Also like the red cable car. Really pops. I'm with you on the cable cars... when you have been that close to a disaster, why tempt fate?
