Pop goes the ... Magnolia?
Magnolia Trees are thought of as deep south beauties. New Orleans or Charleston, South Carolina. But they also grow in California. This tree is in our neighborhood.
Interestingly you can see - blooms that turn to green seed pods
that turn to red seed pods
that POP! revealing red seeds - all on the same tree, all at the same time.

I had never seen the seed pods open up. Maybe just not paid attention :)
I have never seen the seeds pods open up either. I'm not sure they do... but when they are all red looks like lots of fruit to me

They are such beautiful trees and you're right. I don't think of them as being in California. More of a deep south kind of thing! Great photos!
