How much did the military spend yesterday? $5.3 billion

in #peace6 years ago (edited)

Thursday's 34 contracts seemed like a large amount, but on Friday we saw awards of 47 contracts. The biggest went to AM General in South Bend, Indiana, worth half a billion dollars. The work is for procurement of high mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles. According to the Defense Department's list, “One bid was solicited with one bid received.”

The next-largest contract, for just under half a billion dollars, went to an aerospace company in Kongsberg, Norway. The contract is for work on the M153 Common Remotely Operated Weapon Station. Again, one bid was solicited and one bid was received.
