Trams of Kolkata - #peoplephotography by @worldcapture Week -33
"Bada Bazaar" is one of the famous shopping destination of people living in Kolkata. A good place to buy quality products at reasonable rate. I went there too but unlike others I am not interested in shopping.
My eyes keep gluing to find Trams running on the road. It is one of the old Kolkata region and "Trams" still run on the road in this part . I belive it is the only place in India where Trams still operative as only means of people transportation. After waiting and looking here and there, we get to see one of the Old engine chugging past us.
Right in middle of the road. Both side of it quite crowded still the old charriot of yesteryear happily and with full honour making its way. Though it is quite common for people of Kolkata, however, people like me was quite thrilled to see them.
A lot of stories were heard of these trams. The rail netowrk corridor which work and run on road were the gifts of Britishers. It was quite good to watch them running. There is no other place in India where you could see these transport. We have advance metro to AC bus service but travelli g in theses olden beauty have own enjoyment.
I missed to travel on them, as it was no where of my destination, however my main purpose of visiting "Bada Bazaar" was accomplished with ere sighting of these Trams. I have watched them in movies, watch them on internet, and now was watching them in real. Still the conductor uses "Bells" to stop the trams and another bells to make them move.
Quite a fantastic ment for me and my solo purpose of visiting Kolkata was completed.
