Bunnies 🐇💜🐰 want to know your breed of rabbit.
There are so many different breeds of rabbits. My favorite beed is the mini rex 🐇❤ . The mini rex is known like its cousin the full size rex, to have very short and soft fur. Their whiskers are curtly ,the nose is short and round, and the ears should stand.The rex was breed for their skin😢 used in fur coats.
Back home on Maui i was one of the 2 only breeders of the mini rex's. I didnt breed for the money though the local pet shops would buy my babies for $40 a baby, when i was willing to sell.
Most of the time we would just have one or two litters a year just so that i could have them as pets, and their poop was great for our garden. 🥒🍓🌽
Before i moved i had 8 of my 13 spayed and rehomed. I hated leaving them after some were 10 years old and i hand raised them from birth. But my daughter still has a few of them and keeps me updated on how they are doing ❤.Here is a picture of my beautiful Domino. He was my best in show and always took home blue ribbons 💙. The black bunny next to him was his son, shadow that was also a blue ribbon winner at times.
Today we went out to a local farm supply store and i came across some rabbits and thought, hey i could do a post for people that dont know their rabbit breeds 😉.
The Netherlands dwarfs are also a very cute breed. They have longer hair then the mini rex, but get to be about the same in size. The whiskers are straight along with the short ears. This breed only gets about 3 -4 pounds.
The lionhead, this is a new breed that is hard to pin point its traits when breeding. They should have a long mane around their necks but a med body coat. The sad thing with the breed is that sometimes when they pull their hair out of the mane, it may never come back the same. The breed is so new that there is never a guaranty that you will have a perfect coat on your bunny. But there are people that are trying to perfect that by breading the best to the best. I have always wanted to get a lion head with a mini rex body coat and the lionhead mane, but i just didnt have the time to keep trying. Maybe someday someone will get there.
This lionhead isnt the best to show how the mane should look but like i said, its hard to get a perfect specimen in the coat department. Still a beautiful bunny though ❤
The Holland lop, is a bigger breed. They can get to be 11 pounds 😮. Known for their floppy ears and laziness lol.
Care for bunnies is pretty easy, they love to chew so make sure you have wood chew toys for them, or you might find yourself having to trim teeth. Yes i said trim teeth lol. I dont recommend you do it yourself if you dont know how to, leave it to a vet. But ive had some where no matter how much i gave them to chew the teeth just would out grow their lips.
Trim nails every two weeks just like a dogs.
They wash themselves so no need to really bathe them unless to must. Note: they will lick and clean after someone touches them lol. They are pretty clean pets.
Litter box training. Omg yes they are smart and will always go to the same spot to do theirs business. So you can add a litter box if you like .
