How many more wake up calls do we need?//Pope Francis on Dlive confirmed?
I mean seriously.... How many more wake up calls are necessary for people to start using their brains....

What happened yesterday genuinely pissed me off. Not because the most influential youtuber in the world with almost 100 million subs, one of the most famous people in the world picked Dlive... im mad because STEEM was never an option. It simply wasnt.
Ive tried out Dlive yesterday and their site is god damn smooth. Looks great, looks professional, looks competitive...
Getting inside takes 3 seconds...
Now look at Steem and Dtube, The most comparable site we have...
Hemindanger is so hung up on decentralization and IPFS like its the second coming. User experience is secondary, web design is secondary, the site working is secondary.
You heard him repeating during the Dlive fiasco:
"We are decentralized, Dlive isnt really decentralized. We are decentralized, Dlive isnt!".
No one cares! A few crypto purists might care but 99.9% of people, your targeted consumers wont care in the slightest nor will they even know what decentralized even means.
While Dtube devs are hung up on "ideology" or whatnot, the Dlive team is going out there and winning.
Look.
Make a working product and then adopt what ever decentralized "thing" you want.... Dtube is going at this thing ass backwards.
Id wager anything that if Dtube didnt have Neds delegation, their daily user numbers would be in the lower double digits.
Decentralization is great and all, but thats not something you can build your brand around if everything else doesnt work well....
This Pewdipie thing should really be a wake up call for everyone on this platform. Like a shot of Adrenalin to the heart. For the devs, for the large investors, for the middle class and even the small acocunts.
Either behavior of people will change or STEEM has a bleak future.
You just cant delegate to bots anymore, im sorry, you cant. You had your fun and now its time to stop.
You cant just circle jerk and self vote to such a disgustingly perverse degree anymore. Time to stop that.

It is true what you are saying. I signed up for Dlive too... I kept on wondering when I was going to get my private key, so I could store it somewhere safely.
But there was no such thing!
Like you say, 99.9% does not care about this and would probably be turned of by it.
Having said that, STEEM is as easy as it gets on a blockchain. But it does need to get easier, and giving up decentralization is going to have to be a part of it.
Anyhow, someone could set this up on STEEM and provide that service.
Anyways, interesting times ahead!
There are numerous ways to set up what Dlive has without having to sacrifice anything.
Im not only talking about only decentralization. Im talking about giving up on everything else for its sake.
What did you have in mind?
UX obviously could be better.
I do think something like SteemConnect is pretty great. I only have to log in once with my posting key and then can just use SteemConnect for any other application...

Steem connect is great but initial onboarding is the issue.
Business development, something this entire blockchain is lacking.
Decentralization is great and all, but ffs, decentralization doesnt matter if your product is subpar and isnt competitive in the market.
That mentality is no different than cannabis supporters who declare it a miracle plant that does all sorts of bs from curing baldness, impotency, to cancer.
