Dtube| Pagkakaisa: A Filipino Trait

Filipinos are normally "clanish". We hold on to our kinship so much that we even consider someone a relative even if we just have the same surname. Yes, we have extended families. Even friends, we treat them as a family member. We come together as a clan whenever there is a tragedy. We help one another.

Filipinos are generous to their relatives. You can come to a relatives house and ask for a cup of sugar or a cup of soy sauce. Haha. I experience that in our clan.

In this blog, I want to share with you guys our simple family gathering where all of us agreed to have a day of bonding in a local resort here in Antipolo. We rented a section of a private resort. Just a small space to accompany all of us. One of my cousins paid for the rent for that entire day of which all agreed. As expected it was a hilarious day, full of laughter and overflowing with foods. Anywhere you look there is a smile.

Each family brought their own special recipe. It was all placed on the table and anyone can eat the food they want without permission. As long as it is on the table, even if your family didn't bring it, it is everyone's food. We all are food lovers, however, there was still food left after the gathering.

We are conversing all day as if we do not see each other every day. The kids are all playing and enjoying the water. While us middle-aged people ( we are still young), we sing our hearts out in the videoke.

In this blog, I posted a video that showcases how spontaneous the event was. The highlight of this is our human tower done in the pool. Everyone was helping, cheering and coaching how to accomplish it. After so many tries we made it and everyone was so happy it is as if we won a lottery.

Filipinos are normally "clanish". So if ever one day you decided to marry a person from the Philippines, don't be surprised that you will call a lot of people uncle, auntie, cousin, bro, sis. grandpa, grandma and so on. Just bare with it. it only means that you have a big support group behind you.

Filipino families have Pagkakaisa or Unity in English. This is the reason why this simple gathering became a reality. A simple gathering that will be remembered. We practice unity not just in events like this but as a lifestyle. After the happening, we all helped one another in cleaning the mess. Then we all go home and still chat with each other about what has happened in the venue. Hahaha. Our family is typical Filipino hahaha.
