Cebu has been battling with El NIno and with it some inevitable price increase or food shortage. So imagine my surprise when I found them still peddling at the usual price.

I always love purchasing from the farmers themselves as I understand their struggles having a farm ourselves. Also, it's my way of supporting farming as a career choice. These days, we see less and less people plowing or sowing plants as they cave in to the temptation of being factory or construction workers .I fear that without government support we will face a future where foods are super expensive as we import them elsewhere.

Nowadays, it's easy to say one has to work smarter. But to be honest, it takes a smart farmer to earn well in this trade. Also,he has to be extremely lucky because with the climate change and all he has to combat a lot of environmental related condition like El NIno. IMG20190407082205.jpg

So what's my take on this? Well we need to buy local. When we do we stop haggling for cheaper prices with the idea that we are supporting a cause a cry for help of this farmers who despite huge obstacles still produce the foods in our table. We need to rally laws that enables them to produce more with less capital outlay. Why? Because despite the globalisation the irrefutable fact is we need to be self reliant as a country in terms of food security. Because we all know that rumbling stomach comes with it many social ills.IMG20190407081349.jpg
