in #philippines6 years ago

Pangasinan is the largest province in Ilocos Region, as well as located at the border of the region at its south. It comprises of 4 cities and 44 towns which includes Bugallon, Mapandan, and Dagupan City. Here are some facts about the two towns and city.

Bugallon

  • Bugallon was named after the hero from the town, and one of the province's hero as well, Jose Torres Bugallon. In fact, a road in Lingayen was named after him. The town was known for agriculture by which the main statue in their plaza is a huge carabao.

Mapandan

  • Mapandan is in fact a part of Mangaldan town then, and went independent as a town. It's name is even similar to the latter, but it was really derived from pandan, a plant/herb used as a flavoring or aroma in cooking.

Dagupan City

  • Tondaligan Beach is among the tourist destinations in Dagupan City, at Barangay Bonuan Gueset. The Lingayen Baywalk connecting to Tondaligan Beach is under construction.

  • The Downtown area is the main hub of Pangasinan where businesses were located. There it shows Star Plaza Hotel, one of the popular hotels in the city as it overlooks at the Pantal River.

  • Pantal River is the main river system which splits half of the city proper. It also used to be a port for fish market, and island barangays.

Thank you so much for the feature!

Whenever I see or hear something about Dagupan the first thing that comes to my mind is one of my favorite, Milkfish! Yuuuum!

I haven't heard Bugallon and Mapandan, is it near Binalonan po? Because that's where we used to go for vacation during summer breaks. :>

I miss Pangasinan. Bali - balin Pangasinan!
