Welcome to Hiligaynon subject and topics!
Hiligaynon dialect is a medium language of people living in Bacolod and nearby cities.
From the capital city of Negros Occidental going to east, north and south. Hiligaynon is the major mode of conversation, it has similarity with ilonggo and most hiligaynon terminology are originated/influenced by Spanish. Like tinidor, kutsara, labador, tukador, kandado and many more.
Now let me share to you our dialect and I will be giving you not at least 10 words, sentences or phrases. With corresponding translation into Tagalog and English.
This topic will let you learn our dialect and for you to be familiar with Hiligaynon terms.
So Let's Start the Lesson III
Now let me give you some tips and ideas what are the Hiligaynon words that you should learn. When the time you visited our province for you to understand what is meant by these words/sentences/phrases.
Asking for directions
Hiligaynon - Sa diin ni sa dampi?
Tagalog - Saan ba to banda?
English - Where is is located?
Hiligaynon - Ano ni nga lugar?
Tagalog - Anong lugar ito?
English - What place is this?
Hiligaynon - diin ni nga lugar pakadto?
Tagalog - Saang lugar ba papunta ito?
English - What is the direction going to this place?
Hiligaynon - Lapit lang ni nga lugar?
Tagalog - Malapit lng ba ang lugar na to?
English - how near is this place?
Hiligaynon - diretsuhon ko lang ni and dalan?
Tagalog - didiretso lang ba akon dito sa daan?
English - Should I go straight ahead to this street?
Hiligaynon - Ano ni ang pangalan ka bangga?
Tagalog - Anong pangalan ng kantong ito?
English - What is the name of this street?
Hiligaynon - Ano pde ko sakyan pakadto sa inyo?
Tagalog - Ano ang pwede kung sakyan papunta sa inyo?
English - What transportation should I take going to your place?
Hiligaynon - tsakto mani ang gin agyan ko ayhan?
Tagalog - tama ba kaya itong dinaanan ko?
English - Am I heading to the right way?
Hiligaynon - Wala na guid iban nga nga lugar nga pwede agyan?
Tagalog - wala na bang ibang lugar na pwedeng daanan?
English - Is there another way that I can go with?
Hiligaynon - Indi mana da delikdado agyan?
Tagalog - Hindi ba delikado daanan diyan?
English - Is it safe to use that way/it's not dangerous to go that way?
Hiligaynon - maliko pako oh indi na?
Tagalog - liliko pa ba ako oh hindi na?
English - do I turn or not?
Hiligaynon - may balaklan man to sa dalan?
Tagalog - may mabibilihan ba dun sa daan?
English - Is there a store where I can buy?
Hiligaynon - May kalaan-an mana to sa lugar?
Tagalog - may kainan ba dun sa lugar na to?
English - is there restaurant where I can eat in that place?
Hiligaynon - Basi magtalang kami to?
Tagalog - baka mawala kami dun?
English - I might be wander in that place?
Hiligaynon - Sin-o to ang pangitaon nmun pag abot namun?
Tagalog - Sino po ba yung hahanapin namin pagdating namin dun?
English - Who is the person we should find as soon as we arrive to that place?
Hiligaynon - May mga atm man to nga pde ko ka widraw?
Tagalog - Meron ba doong mga atm paa mka pag widraw ako?
English - Is there an atm where I can withdraw there?
Hiligaynon - Indi mana to bawal mag labay sa lugar?
Tagalog - hindi ba bawal dumaan sa luga na iyon?
English - Can we use that way without restrictions?
Hiligaynon - pila ka bangga ang dapat namun agyan antes sa lugar nga ina?
Tagalog - ilang kanto ang dapat naming daanan bago ang lugar ninyo?
English - how many streets do we need to cross before your place?
These are the hiligaynon words/sentences/phrases that you can use during your travel here in Negros. Or for you to know better the directions using this phrases as your guide.
