I wasn't able to go off duty yesterday, because the personnel from PHO will be coming to evaluate our facility. They need to assess whether we qualify to be certified as Level 1 Adolescent Friendly Health Facility.
The country is currently facing a lot of issues like teenage pregnancy, substance use, HIV and AIDS, mental illness and violence. In response to these problems, the Department of Health implemented the Adolescent Health and Development Program and created its manual of operation in 2017 under former DOH Secretary Ubial. This aims to improve the health status of adolescents (10-19 years old) and to enable them to fully enjoy their right to health.
The Level 1 certification is just the first step in fully implementing AHDP here in our town, but as the saying goes, "A journey to a thousand miles begins with a single step." ♡
