Why Biri Island is a Must Visit Place in Northern Samar, Philippines?

in #philippines6 years ago (edited)

The very reason why I joined this kind of Flatform is primarily to showcase how beautiful my country is in terms of tourist destinations. Philippines is indeed in the list of the top leading destinations in the world.

This time I ganno show you out the best in my province in terms of tourist spots. I'm introducing you the Northern Samar's most visited place Biri Island featuring the BIRI ROCK FORMATIONS.

📌Where it is located?
Biri Island is a fifth class municipality composing of several islands located in the North coast of Samar Island, facing the Pacific Ocean to the East and San Bernardino Strait to the West. The said island is topographically part of the Province of Northern Samar which is one of the provinces in Samar Island, as it considered the third largest island in the Philippines.

Biri Rock Formations This made the island popular because of the 7 massive Rock Formations that are the out growth of the said underwater tectonic plate movements and crashing waves over million years ago. These rock foramations are Magasang, Magsapad, Macadlaw, Puhunan, Bel-at, Caranas, and Pinanahawan. Macadlaw is said to be the ideal place for catching sunrise. Another unique feature of Biri Island is the natural salt water pools of Bel-at, where visitors enjoyed swimming in this very clear-placid water.

Going to the Island
Since we were just from Catarman, the capital of Northern Samar, we just took a daytrip to Biri island with my two @steemit friends.

Early in the morning we departed in Catarman and took a trip bound to Allen, Northern Samar, the popular port used to cross if your are going to Luzon island.
Then we just dropped by in Lavezares, a nearby municipality of Allen, that would be the only way to go to Biri Island. At the Lavezares Port we have waited for an hour to maximize the passenger's capacity of the boat before it leaves going to Biri Island.

After an hour, the boat was finally departed. The boat trip going to Biri takes almost an hour to reach the Biri Port either in Biri downtown or in Palhugan Port, an adjacent barangay from the town of Biri. The fare is P50.00 or 1$. We used to arrive at Palhugan Port and ride a habal-habal to be supposedly drop by to their Tourism Office for registration. But since, their office that time was close we directly went to the jump off going to Biri rockformations at Bel-at Island.

At Palhugan port, we have been welcomed by one of the great tourist guide of Biri, Mr. Jay-ar Galvez, and we used his motorcycle or habal-habal as our main service in our Biri Island Trip.
Going to the Jump-off point takes 20-30 minutes. Fare P200.00 or 4$ back and forth going to the Bel-at Rock Formation. The guides Fee is P300.00 which is equivalent to 6$ for a maximum of 5 persons. It was so worth it since he will bring you to different rock formations.
For questions if guides for now are mandatory if you are going to Biri, Yes! the Tourism mandatorily requires a guide for the safety and security of the visitors.

On our way to Biri, From Lavezares port, this was the kind of boat we used to ride going to the Island.

It is a big boat that can load 20-30 passengers.

This is the tourism office of Biri Island, for inquiries you may go and ask to their office. Foods, souvenirs, value meal is also available in the tourism office. You either also pay their environmental fee of P50.00 or 1$ at their office or in the jump off of Bel-at Rock Formation.

Along the way to the jump off you can also see the Municipal Hall of Biri.

So after how many minutes of habal-habal ride , we arrived at Bel-at Rock Formation. We were being welcomed by the amazing view of mangroves as we passed by a wooden bridge going to the rock formation.

As we have our walk going to the rock formation. With my steemit friends @annalorin28 @reoroberts.
IMG_2234.JPG

You will see in the sides of the bridge is a greeny sorroundings made by mangroves.
IMG_2259.JPG

After passing the wooden bridge is a 5-minute walk to the registration area. You may also pay the environmental fee around the area.

As you can see, white sand is indeed one of the best feature of the island.
IMG_2260.JPG

So we start to rove the stunning rock formations after passing the registration area.

I ask to take an overview of the first rock formation photo from our tour guide. He was indeed nice of taking angles and dimensions of the photos you wanted to take for.

And this another very unique feature in Bel-at Rock Formation, the amazing Natural watersalt pool
IMG_2231.JPG

Another rock formation is on my back. I can't easily figure out whats the best adjective to describe this place but its totally different and amazing to the other places I've visited.
IMG_2228.JPG

We almost explore every part of the area which we think a great place to feed my instagram. We took photos everywhere just all about the rocks.
IMG_2230.JPG

As we go to the other rock formation, we passed near the shore. As you can see, its not advisable to swim along the shore for the waves were so huge as the current was getting stronger for it is facing the pacific ocean.
IMG_2232.JPG

The very magnificent and awe-inspiring carved forms of rocks in Biri Island.

After an hour of exploring and roving the area, we took a short rest with our guide.
Taking a slight snacks.
IMG_2235.JPG

Then we immediately resume exploring the island. We go back into walking around it. We observed that the water in the place is indeed very clear.

IMG_2246.JPG

The clear crystallin water of Biri. The corals are indeed so alive. Just having some careful walk, for the corals were so easily breakable.

And we were having some trick shots while we were going to the other part of the Rock Formations. We were having a photo frame like that made of rocks. T'was so amazing.

IMG_2250.JPG

Before we end our tour, I got a chance to take photo on this part. This was really catches my heart. The rock designs were indeed so incomparable.

Having a panorama shot with this great carved rocks. Photo was really defined on whose behind it. Thanks to our dear tourguide.😉

Since, t'was getting hightide we were not able to explore the other part of the island for our own safety. But still, we made our trip and visit so unforgettable.

Before we end our Biri Island trip, we visited the towns church. Which was recently renovated.

The interior design of the church.

As our trip ends, another place was being visited. Nature was indeed everywhere. It is just a matter of recognizing and appreciating it that made it different.

One thing that I've noticed, is that it is really important to deal and be good and nice to the locals or the residents of ones place. It will help you alot in dealing with many manners.

We should always remember that No one will enrich us than the travel does.

Enjoy Wandering
