End of new beginnings | Start of new beginnings

The idea of new beginnings can be terrifying to some and exciting to others; It's a personal thing, and probably situational also I guess. New beginnings can take various forms from a new relationship or job, a new process, location, attitude or mindset and often means letting the past go; Letting go of what was in favour of what could be.

Human beings are capable of great change, of the cognitive thought required to bring about change within oneself, and the pre-exiting realties, concepts or ethos' that we each hold currently. It doesn't happen like the transition from day to night though, you know, that inexorable march of time that renews the world each day. For humans it takes more effort.

The thing about new beginnings, or change, is that it often brings a degree of discomfort along with it. Take a relationship breakdown for instance. Even though the relationship may be toxic and each party may be better off out of it altogether just making that change can be difficult, and can bring emotions and pain that linger long after the relationship ends. But here's the good part...Each time we start a new beginning it marks the end of the existing one as our friend Seneca refers to below.

New beginnings are essential for progress in any aspect of life and whilst some may get away without new beginnings in a certain part of life it is unavoidable in the broader sense; Change is an unavoidable part of life in general.

“Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” - Seneca

I find new beginnings to be exciting, uncomfortable, enjoyable, painful, refreshing and awkward plus many other adjectives in equal or unequal measure depending on the degree and type of change however I embrace new beginnings and understand that each one is not carved in rock. New beginnings end and start over, just like night and day.

I'll end with one more little quote that I like a lot:

“There are two mistakes one can make along the road to truth… not going all the way, and not starting.” - Buddha

Sort:

Seriously, that's a Seneca quote? Had no idea, heard it in a Bon Jovi song :D And you're making me miss the beach - I hate ya :P

Change is a constant, you have to be ready for it, it seems impossible to stay the same person for five years, much less fifty.

Yep, Seneca. And yep, the beach is lovely isn't it? You shouldn't be complaining, you just spent several days in Italy sunning yourself.
