The right attitude...and goat-breaks

in #philosophy5 years ago

I'm one of those people who always seems to have something to do. Sure, sometimes that thing is sitting on my couch watching Netflix, or enjoying a nice grandpa-nap on a Sunday afternoon, but what I mean is I never really mope around whining about boredom or lack of interesting things to engage in.

My interests are varied, in fact some would say my interests are an eclectic conglomeration of things that don't necessarily go together. But they're mine, and I enjoy them.

I believe that finding contentment no matter what we are doing in life is important; Finding enjoyment, value and interest in all things, not just the contrived moments we all seem to make these days, is an important element in life. Reading a book on a rainy winters day accompanied by a cup of tea and some cookies, exploring an art exhibition or a small town I've never seen before, spending time with family and friends, laying on the beach in Italy getting a tan or couch-potato'ing in front of Netflix all have their merits and value. For me they would at least I guess.

You see there's no such thing as a bad life or a good life...There's just life and unless I missed the memo, we only get one of them. We can't always live life in the way we choose, there's commitments that often mean we live a default version of life...But we always have the choice to apply a certain attitude to whatever we are doing and what could seem a bother, an interruption to our lives, could in fact be perceived differently. Attitude is everything.

So, whether you're HALO jumping from a C130, pottering around in your garden, white water rafting, exploring a museum, or just taking a goat-break in true @justineh style, the attitude you apply to it will determine it's value in your life. (take your goat-break here)

Just my thoughts for today. I hope you enjoy your day doing things you value and if you can't value them just apply the right attitude to them, they'll be over soon and you can move on.

Haha I'd missed J's goat post :)) that is such a cool word, definitely using it from now on.

Hmm the lying on a beach...yeah, I can see that ;) I can also see travelling a couple hours to see a kickass band. Oh and did.you say cookies? My entire meal plan for this trip has been pizza and cookies!

I really love the attitude of this post, it's one I share. You only get bored because of a mindframe, not actual lack of things to do. There's always things to do, but we kinda forget that and get stuck in a swamp.

Hi @honeydue, thanks for your comments. You know, if a goat-break is not possible then go to Italy, sit on the beach, eat pizza and cookies then see a bad. Same same. :)

I really love the sediment here and fully agree. When I’m at my best I try to take time to really enjoy the small things in life.. enjoy the simple moments and always remember we only get one life, so we should never take it for granted. I think attitude is everything and I appreciate this reminder.. as sometimes I forget 😉

You're welcome for the shout-out. I've been goat-breaking since I read it on your blog and whilst no goats are actually involved in said goat-breaks the principle, and the result, is the same. :) Thanks for your comment Justine.
