The Silent Shift That Is Rocking Conventional Medicine

in #philosophy5 years ago (edited)

FASTCOMPANY: Researchers at Tufts University made the case that subsidized fruits and vegetables could prevent millions of cases of chronic diseases. Perhaps it’s time for doctors to start prescribing more produce than pills. That’s, at least, what researchers argue in a new study that finds “prescriptions” for healthy foods could save more than $100 billion in healthcare costs.

EARTH CUSTODIANS: there is indeed an arising trend trying to counter the "big pharma cartel" because it also about "having a conscience" and trying to stand out despite all odds. While most scientists are enjoying their paychecks and do not look farther than what they are told to research, some are very aware and will eventually help reverse the tide. A paradigm change does not happen overnight but when the model itself has been stretched to a breaking point. Although a buildup can last for a long while, this is a major crack and more are going to follow suit.

Roughly 70% of diseases in the U.S. are chronic and lifestyle-driven, according to the CDC, and nearly half of the population has one or more chronic health conditions, such as diabetes, asthma, heart disease, obesity, or cancer.

That is precisely what EC speak about. The staggering amount of people gravely sick is itself forcing some scientists to rethink academia completely, because that data does not lie. So there must be something very wrong with the treatments or/and diagnostics they were taught. This is right in our faces now, not just scientists'.

It’s an expensive issue: 86% of annual healthcare costs in the U.S. are driven by chronic disease. Meanwhile, U.S. healthcare expenditures tripled in the last 50 years, from 5% of gross domestic product in 1960 to 17.9% in 2016, according to the CDC.

Again, if you are a doctor and seeking to heal people, you'd feel self-defeated and start digging beyond what is being taken for granted. Cynically, should we do nothing and watch people die, it is obvious that we'd end up with 10s of 1000s of doctors without a job. It is impossible to cheat Mother Nature. She always wins.

The results showed that with such subsidies, subjects rely less on healthcare. The first scenario would prevent 1.93 million cardiovascular events (such as heart attacks) and 350,000 deaths, as well as cut healthcare costs by $40 billion. The expanded second scenario would prevent 3.28 million cardiovascular events, 620,000 deaths, and 120,000 cases of diabetes–and save the U.S. system a whopping $100 billion.

Food has always been medicine, and science must now become holistic to save itself from absolute irrelevancy. Another conspiracy theory becoming a conspiracy fact. Of course if people could stay alive longer, that would justify even more the implementation of a money-free system.

Currently, 76% of traditional physician visits result in a prescription for a drug, adding another $3.3 trillion spent nationally on healthcare per year.

Another jaw dropping insight. This just another fact as why we cannot take conventional medicine seriously any longer. It is all connected: banks print the $3.3TN, which are redistributed between the main players while controlling lawmaking. It is all about money.

“These food as medicine approaches are gaining real traction,” the study’s author Dariush Mozaffarian, dean of the Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University, tells Popular Science magazine.

Applauds for these brave scientists who dare find the courage to document the fallacy of conventional medicine. Their study has gone mainstream!

Excellent post! As Hippocrates said "Let thy food by thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food". Sadly people want a pill for everything to solve their problems rather than actually take care of themselves. Benjamin Franklin said "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"! So true!
