Labor purpose

in #philosophy5 years ago

Hello friends have you ever woken up to go to work and have you wanted the lottery to stop you from ever coming back? For many people, going to work is a martyrdom, either because they believe they are not paid enough or because they think they might be in a higher position. Now, the question you have never asked yourself is whether your career is aligned with your goals.

Sometimes, we are not aware of the reasons why we end up in a certain job. Maybe it's just for money or maybe for acquiring experience. But, what happens if this work does not coincide with our purposes, with our work and personal objectives?

Let's imagine that we work as administrative staff. It's a job that we found fast and it did not take too much effort, but the only reason we stick to it is for money. Actually, what we would like to do is set up an agency, that is, our purpose is to undertake.

Pushed by our environment, and as we had studied administration and business management, we chose the most obvious way out. However, every day is an overwhelm because our work does not fill us completely. We feel bored and without winning to go. However, the fear, the comfort and the money that we receive at the end of the month chained us to continue in that job that we did not taste at all.

Sometimes, we believe that what we study, what defines our profession, is what determines our career but can be a serious mistake. The career path is a path that we have to choose consciously and, if possible, that is aligned with our life goals.

Focus on our dreams

Thus, our career is not reduced to get a job and earn money. Thinking in this way causes many people are dissatisfied, to count the holidays to know when they do not have to work and the days left to return to have those long-awaited vacations. In short, instead of enjoying their employment, they experience it as a countdown until the days off.

Everyone has a desire, some work objectives, or what we could also call a dream. Something, perhaps, vocational, a job that we all would play with pleasure and that, if the moment came to stop filling us, we would abandon it without fear to continue advancing and building our career. In fact, if it is aligned with our purposes of life we will not let ourselves be trapped by fear, laziness and comfort.

Now, how to start our career? Do not dream of impossible, but stop to analyze what we like to do, in what activities or tasks we are good and even, what we can improve. The next step is to think how useful that can be to what we would like to dedicate ourselves to. Help the others? Does it make life easier for someone? What is your main contribution?

How to know if we are on track?

Although we think about all of the above, the question may arise if we are opting for the best path. For this, we can answer the following questions:

  • How many goals have we met? We are not talking about money, but about achievements at the work level. If, however much you think about it, you do not believe that you have met any, then your career and your purpose are not aligned.

  • Is our work in accordance with our values? The reason why we are often not happy even if we earn money is because our work does not contain any of the values we value or even, it goes against them.

  • Does our work motivate us? This is a very important question. If we do not have opportunities to develop our skills and be productive, and we develop our work automatically, we are most likely wrong.

The answers to these questions can locate us at what point we are on the road and if perhaps it is a good time to rethink the situation. Maybe we just have to see the work from another perspective or solve some pending conflicts that are hindering our work development.

There is a clear difference between those who have a satisfactory career and those who only work. The first ones do it for pleasure, it makes up for being in that job, it gives them something. In some way, their employment allows them to progress little by little and improve their skills. The latter see work as an obligation that must be supported day after day.

We must never conform, it is not true that there are no other opportunities. Now, nothing is achieved without effort, effort and dedication. Why not take time to train us in what we really like and develop the career that will get us out of bed even when we have slept a few hours?

Conclusion

Everything is a matter of will, desire and patience. If we want to have a satisfactory job, let's think first of our purposes to start moving and to direct ourselves towards them, even if we are taking very short steps at the beginning.

Thank you friend, this is all for today I hope to see you in my next publication.
