Fearing Freedom and Keeping Others in Chains [DTube + Text]

in #philosophy6 years ago (edited)

Real anarchists don't want masters over their lives or over the lives of other people. Real anarchists want real freedom. As long as people voluntarily interact, then they can agree to live how they want together. Anarchism isn't about chaos or destruction, like news anchors tell us on TV. Anarchism isn't about not having any rules. It's only about not having rulers or masters over other.

The ideal of anarchism is difficult for some to grasp. Statists can't imagine a world without government, because they lack imagination and vision to change towards what is better. They are the ones who will never accept real true freedom, and keep the rest of us enslaved through their fear of a life of real freedom and all it's problems and unknowns that we have to deal with on our own, not begging government to deal with shit for us. The comfortable, "safe" and "secure" knowns of how we live now, are preferred to the uncomfortable unknown chaotic potentials we face in true freedom.

Statists prefer the devil they know, rather than need to learn about the unknown and understand how to create a better potential future. Laziness is a key factor in rejecting the need to learn more about how to create freedom through morality. For some reason they imagine only the possibility of a worse reality without government through their fear of living without government. Fear is preventing them from using their imagination to see a better reality without government protecting them. They are afraid of losing stability they have now, that they know and are familiar with, even if it is immoral, rather than face the challenge to learn to create a better way of living and have zero-tolerance for lies, falsity or immorality.

Without imagination, all you can do is create the same thing you have that you already know. All a statist can create is more statism, oppression and enslavement. They can't see how to do something different. For them, government control is an absolute part of humanity. They can't understand how it would work otherwise. They are ignorant and chose to remain that way, rather than actually learn.

This desire for statism, for government control in life, is couched in pseudo-freedom speak and fear of real freedom. This is often expressed through their own words towards others. Supporters of government are anti-freedom. They fear the real freedom, vigilance and responsibility required to stand for and defend truth, right, good and morality as individuals. They fear not having the government in control to make everything a relative "safe-space". Anarchy wouldn't work for them, or others like them, because they can't handle the personal responsibility to truth and morality that comes with not having any masters to control their lives.

Government is not required for us to live. Does that mean government must go tomorrow, or the next day, to understand the better moral position of an anarchist compared to a statist? No. Government is likely to remain for years and decades, especially so long as people refuse to see a better future without it. Those who won't learn and wake up to better moral living potentials, are only going to be holding the rest of us back. As such, they will be keeping the rest of us in chains.

You don't need to spend time and argue with people who don't want to learn about the subject on their own. The information is out there for them to learn if they actually cared to. Present the information, sure, but to try to get someone to accept it, is likely to be a waste of your own time and energy. Most people don't care for truth to want to know truth from falsity, right from wrong, they are merely content believing whatever suits them and makes them feel "right" or makes them "feel-good" about themselves and their way of life.

Share the information for everyone who wants to learn. Trying to make someone accept information when they don't even care to learn why it's true or false, is like trying to spoon feed someone who isn't even hungry. If you really want to help them, help them understand how to think and how to learn. That's the deficit that prevents them from learning about statism, anarchy or anything else. They don't know how to think properly. Fallacies, biases, and more, are preventing them from being able to honestly evaluate information or understand the importance of truth and learning.

Real freedom is not being oppressed and coerced into immoral schemes and ways of living. Real freedom requires objective morality, with people who understand morality deeply enough because they took the time, energy and effort to learn about objective morality. Not simply deciding and justifying something as "moral" because you want it to be that way.

Failure to truly understand morality, and the potential better moral future we can create, is the reason we move so slowly towards morality as a species, and why we sometimes stagnate or go backwards. Few people really care about morality at all. Most simply assume whatever they do is "moral", yet have no accurate comprehension of what morality even is and how to determine what is or isn't moral. Start form the principle of non-aggression and understand how to not steal or harm others.

Thank you for your time and attention. Peace.

Don’t use this word much because I have no desire to create another label for people to box themselves into, but I see myself as an “eventualist” (is that already a thing). In order for a society without strict hierarchy to exist, people need to be empowered to be the engineers of their own lives. I see that we are moving towards this, but rather than force it through insisting that our way is the best, we just need to insist on the freedom to experiment and then put effort and faith into it to prove that it works.

The fact that we are having these conversations here is a testament to how far we have come.

Indeed, self-governance to rule ourselves in self-control. If we don't use self-control under moral law/rule, then we create external control with rulers.

morality or very deep self consciousness, we need extended education on these things, if there are no inner control then we will have masters to control us. We don't teach kids this way, we just teach them you have to do it, because it's the right way to do it or because I said so and I am the authority.

Yes, within self-control we have external control, hence why government is favored. The I said so "Authority" model doesn't help us evolve properly, but ti keeps us in line and "safe" in some ways :/

Well said, and we on Steemit have now reached a million people strong. Many people haven't been exposed to the other point of view, and I hope the heavy population of anarchists on Steemit will start to influence the newcomers here, and the growing population in the times to come, as this is what happened to me.

Before I joined this platform, I saw anarchists as punks with skateboards who would be happy to loot and plunder and undermine our stability...this is how they are portrayed after all. Then I read articles about what anarchy really means, and I caught the vision too. :)

yeah, those so-called "anarchists" only live by "no rulers" yes ignore rules of living like morality... it gives anarchism a bad name :/ Glad you understand it more :)

DeFine and ReFine Freedom. Ideal life of Freedom varies from person to person. E.g., I believe gun rights is a personal freedom, but others may disagree.

I agree. If you are not harming others, you are allowed to potentially be able to defend your life. I would like to live in a world with no guns... but that's a far off ideal dream more than a close reality ;)

Some kind of government always existed in humanity. Maybe this doesn't tell us government is necessary, but it says something about us.
I know so many different kinds of anarchists, that word almost means nothing to me.

Well, for a long time it had been here. Always existed? No. It was created by humans, therefore at one point it didn't yet exist for us to feel the need to create it in the first place ;) It will be around for a long time as I see it. Government isn't going anywhere anytime soon :/

Anarchism has been polluted indeed. Many vandalize and ignore morality and property, calling themselves anarchists, but they are ignorant of rules (morality) while declaring no more rulers. There is a difference.

Yeah I mean, even in primitive life someone is/was the leader of the tribe. That's a form of government.

Anarcho-communists and anarcho-capitalists are both saying they are the only true anarchy, that's just an example. IMO there are many (abstract) ways to imagine voluntary social organization. It's stuff we mostly read on books and not see in action, so, difficult to talk about.

Anarchism is a form of government. Government isn't STATISM. Self Rule, consent of the governed, those aren't reactionary fears, but simple principles. Freedom of association is also government. Government isn't tyranny, look at Iceland or numerous local governments that don't overstep their limits, they don't put up with free market bullying, or fraud.

Self Governance is never discussed in a discourse about Real Freedom. People act as if they've discovered the greatest wisdom: anarchy, and close their eyes tightly when faced with the conundrum that the reason for government is self rule, a morally and logical response based on voluntary interactions and self rule, with enforcement of laws for that end, and to invalidate such a system it needs to have an argument that is focused on either the right to form society or on the implementation(or lack thereof).

When large swatting accusations of theft or coercion are made against Government, with ignorance of the very principle and premise of government and simply based on the iteration of: in the United States-absence of a functional government and in British Empire-treasonous monarchs then people falsely believe it's government itself to blame, but don't you think upon knowing the difference that you ought at least attack the iteration of "government" and do so without room for interpretation, but cold hard facts?

The premise of governments everywhere stands by the right of consent: what one don't resist will persist and with their silent acquiesce approve, and in other cases government is there to Secure Life Liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and here, real freedom is creating an unassailable position of truth, facts, and logic, which ought to be exactly how self governance leads to "statists".

No anarchist worth their salt (Lysander lol) is gonna break down why and how a republic is ultimately coercion and Theft without any bystanders such as myself asking if you can demonstrate that, why aren't the juries assembling to flush the crap out? Consent.

Steemit is a world of education, insightful and informative post I got to learn from you blog everyday @krnel thanks for sharing

Studied about Anarchism for the first time on Steemit.com and would study more how this philosophy works.
