Being grateful for the struggle

in #philosophy5 years ago

I've not done one of these philosophical crypto rant things in a while, and since I just came back from a trip, I've had quite a bit on my mind.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this...

Much love

This is absolutely true as we humans are more a survival instinct base and when we are in the comfort zone too long, this can crumble pretty quickly. I have recently been feeling over anxious over little things that in the past I would not even think about until the last minute as I was working on huge issues to resolve. Now that I am doing well for myself (knock on wood), I feel myself stressing the little things. For example, I have no credit card debt after years of focusing on eliminating it! However, I am bothered by a car loan that I need to pay every month! Your comments have given me some great perspective on the reason now...

true fact. people who retire lose purpose if their life revolved around work. its a struggle to refocus and decide what is worth fighting for, or giving energy to. retirement is the 10th most stressful thing in life, and for many leads to depression, declined health from less activity, loss of social contacts. retirement takes planning and work, not just financially but psychologically. so in essence, we are merely trading one set of struggles for another. anyone who works tends to look at retirement as freedom, and cannot see that most of the struggle takes its toll at a mental and emotional level.

I often think that I will never truly retire... I'll change careers, if said things even exist by that time... but retire? what for?

Give me a million bucks and I'll retire! There's so much more I'd rather do than work, like visit all the continents and all the countries in the world :)

I doubt you would... you would probably be doing something... maybe not for profit, but something... so its not retiring, more like just following a diff path

Yeah, just not for money :) Once the part of living (shelter, food, health, ect.,) is taken care of (for life) yes. I'll be doing something (always). To sit there and be "retired" from the world is boring.

well, retire in a sense that you do what you want and are not there to make money out of financial necessity when you'd rather be doing something else. if you want to be working, its fine. some people do volunteer work, its still work. if i had the money to travel the world and never work again, i would.

I don’t think i could ‘retire’ simply because i love the hustle. i love the grind.

but more important i love growing every day. the more i do the more i learn.

great video man. appreciate the insight and the thoughts.

Welcome back to Dtube Brother! Really missed your content here because I love watching you !

Watched the whole video and oh yes Life very Short and let's Enjoy what we do everyday.

Most of the times I tell business people and investors that best ROI is the happy life. If I not happy with my life I'll sell anything and everything.lol

I was down in South America for seven days... connectivity was limited, but I'm back... I suspect that internet won't be an issue at Steemfest, so I fully expect to make more vids while I'm there...

thank you for the support brother.

You looked more younger in this video and I should go South America to become little young.lol

I'm happy to bring a pocket wifi from Japan for just for you!!

or I can ask my friend in Warsaw (Poland) to buy you a sim card for one week with some Data.

Looking forward to meeting you in person!!

Good video @meno!
As someone who has managed to "retire" in my early 40s, I can say I do sorta miss the struggle sometimes, but I have come to understand that everything really is absurd anyway. So if one can manage to "lie" to themselves about this and at least stay busy with something, where it be art, intellectual pursuits, travel, or some kind of not for profit like I wanna start for some wild horses, then they will at least be able to live inside the lie. The struggle really takes one's mind from the pointlessness. It's grim indeed, but to me staying busy is the key. My kids and their bullshit keeps me more busy than a little bit.

Peace bro <3

Congrats, someone thinks that your post was good enough to be deserving of a vote. Enjoy it.

i think these spammy comments are going to backfire hoist... i know you are upvoting people, that's awesome... but the generic spammy comment is not helping you.

Shutting down for a while. Got to rethink to not offend people. This platform is hard.

no need to shut down hoist.. it's nice for you to upvote people like I said, but when you comment, it needs to be sincere...

Imagine that we were doing this in person, and I would tell you how awesome your hair looks or something. But, it turns out you are wearing a wig...

That is how the generic comments/compliments work... Most people don't like them because they are not sincere... and I dont have to tell you why being insincere is not nice.

The thing is, I'm a bot(human commenting right now). It's hard for me to change my message every single time because of that. Its just as a way of earning more steem power to power myself and to pay off the fees for running this every month. I'm just programmed to vote for posts that of authors that my creator has deemed worthy.

Oh, interesting... well, if you are on discord chat, I'm there, find me and I would be more than happy to help you figure out how you can make this work for you best.

If you are programmer, I'm sure you would be able to implement some ideas I might give you.

I went through and voted him. A bunch. And try to vote things that are in a positive direction.

Thanks @hoist good job. Feel free to spam comment me anytime. If I got the voting power I'll throw you a vote!

And thanks @meno for helping him! That's cool! Here is a vote in recognition of helping them!

Congrats great vidio dtube and great post my frend @meno
