power outage, really makes us upset, all activities become blocked, I least like it when there is a power outage
Yeah businesses buy big generators to compensate and stay open
Everything is plunged into darkness. In our country, the same electricity is disconnected for the whole day.
I really think it's becoming more and more frequent everywhere. Between cable theft and just old broken installation, lots of these infrastructure can't sustain the electricity demand
The residential housing looks very dark. Power outages are very disturbing to all human activities. I feel very uncomfortable if there is a power outage in my area.
Yeah it's something that everyone is feeling worldwide when it's out. My dogs were on their guards, and security companies were patrolling as we was a big one. There were called next door apparently ...

Dang!!! There are many more lights than I imagined there to be. As a North American I have this naive stupid impression that South Africa is mostly country or farms or something. Thanks for slapping me with some reality. That sucks that your power is out. Same ish happens in Costa Rica, without warning power goes out for a day. We haven’t had it happen for more than a day yet 🤞. Glad you’re still able to get on your Steemit though :)
Yeah actually Joburg is a lot like Los Angeles, huge, city-like and stretch out.
THere's even a business district with skyscrapers, and hundreds of kilometers of burbs surrounding the city!!

This outage was done on purpose, if so why.
I live in a very rural area of Upstate New York, and power outages are quite common. The electiical outages are not planned though. Most times electrical lines are taken down by falling trees or large tree branches.
If an outage is planned, do you get prior warning?
I think a substation blew. We do have planned outage very often called "load shedding" but this wasn't the case .
We have a schedule of these shedding, and there's 4 different stages (1234), we were in 1 at the moment, and we're normally warned
