The Parrillada: Monday Food Photography

In October of 2012 Two of my brothers and one brother-in-law came to visit me in Iguazu, Argentina, On the first night I took them to the parrilla "Lo de Jaun". As a first experience I had them eat the Parrillada.
The Parrillada includes beef, and depending on the part of the country other meats such as lamb, pork, goat, and chicken it also includes internal organs that you will not find on US menus. Some of what you will be served are falda (skirt steak matambre (flank steak), morcilla (blood sausage), chorizo (a spicy sausage), salchicha (longer and thiner, slightly less spicy sausage), higado (liver), riñones (kidneys), mollejas (sweetbreads), ubre (udder), chinchulin (lower intestine), and of course the meat asado de tira (short rib steak), bife de costilla (T-bone steak), bife de chorizo (rib roast steak), It's a great opportunity to try things you have never considered eating.

They start with a selection of the more unusual items. You do not have to eat them and can request what ever you would like as it is all you can eat,

These prices are in Argentina Pesos. At this time the dollar was about 5 pesos so the cost of the Parrillada for two would be $11. US per person for 4 it would be a little less.

My two brothers and my brother-in-law. In the Styrofoam holder is a litter of beer. These holder are often used it the hot parts of the country.

The little guy at the table is me. I had been the same size as my brothers but living in the jungle for a few years changed that. The servers name is Juan but not the owner Juan. The guy in the doorway is also Juan and he is the son of the owner and is called Juancito (little Juan)

I do miss Argentina! A beautiful country with beautiful people. Thanks for taking the time to share this experience.
