Bulgaria, Plovdiv. The newest European Capital of Culture. Major ceremonies were held about a month ago to celebrate the following events.
Many art exhibitions are held all over the city and European cultural spirit is all over the city. One of the art-related events is the appearing of a couple old East German cars in one of the main squares.

Art on Trabant

I still remember the time, when my father used to own one of these "beasts". I was extremely happy, that my family owned a car. Even though this car tended to stop working when it was getting wet, and refused to start again, until the rain stopped.

The experience back then was unique, and although the car refused even to go above 100 km/h. Rarely, when we were driving downhill, it was passing this speed limit.

Funny fact is, that you were supposed to add motor oil into the gasoline in order to make the engine work, and the fuel compartment was above the engine itself, under the hood.

It was very nice seeing these art objects and a lot of memories came to me. Modern cars have travelled a lot during the last 30-40 years, and they seem as a sort of spaceships, compared to their old, ancient cousins.
See ya soon, and enjoy the East German auto industry art!
