Mountains in the Clouds
Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado. Traveling along Trail Ridge Road in RMNP you can go from clear blue skies to dense clouds and fog in a matter of minutes. When I first arrived at the spot where this photo was taken there were only a few clouds in the sky. By the time I left 30 minutes or so later you couldn't even see the mountains, with visibility on the road down to 5-10 feet at best (that was fun, you're at 11,000 ft, there's no guardrails, and sometimes you could only tell where the road went by the sticks they use to mark the road for snowplows). Even with the sometimes less than perfect visibility, the entire area is amazing, just be sure to wear warm clothes if you visit.
