Introduction

Many of us agree that the photography tag is broken. Many well-intentioned users use the photography tag indiscriminately, leaving the experience of browsing for actual high quality photography frustrating.

I wrote a post crowdsourcing ideas on how to fix this issue, there were a lot of interesting ideas floating around but we(@jrue, @aweber, @yumyumseth and I) decided to go with the immediate fix while building for a more long-term solution.

Enters @photofeed

@photofeed is a project that aims to make finding high-quality photography on the steem blockchain more fun.

Our solution has 4 parts:

  1. Launching the #photofeed hashtag
  2. Having a powerful curation trail that is profitable for everyone
  3. Weekly round-up post to increase the exposure and share the rewards with great artists
  4. Getting ready for communities as well as a possible app down the line

How to Participate

  1. Join our curation trail at steemauto.com
  2. Post your high quality photography using the #photofeed hashtag
  3. Get rewarded for your good work!

Incentives

@PhotoFeed has my backing and I'm sponsoring this initiative with my upvotes. To maximize participation and curation rewards for others, he will upvote 30 minutes after @photofeed does. If you upvote before @photofeed does (and @cryptoctopus), not only will you help people find good photography but you will also make a profit doing so!

Conclusion

Join our discord channel!. There we can answer your questions, hang out between photographers and discover about each other's work! Please follow @photofeed and consider becoming a fan and following our trail on steemauto.com!!

Definitely joining the @photofeed curation trail!!

This is a great initiative!!

Is it okay if i'm not a "professional" photographer? I have kind of a decent camera and I do enjoy capturing some nice snaps!! Can I use the #photofeed tag? I don't wanna misuse the tag and so I want to be sure of the exact requirements if any to make sure this tag doesn't get filled with irrelevant posts.

same question, same thoughts.. please let me know @photofeed

Well i don't think you have to be all professional in order to a member of steemit ....I feel your best should be good enough .

True. But this tag was created to filter only the great quality photography and so we should respect that and try not no post with that tag unless our posts are good enough for #photofeed.

Alright then,i understand.

high quality doesn't mean professional, i'm an amateur myself ;)

Hi @cryptoctopus, kudos for the great effort. I feel very small among all expert photographers using my mobile to take photos. I will try to make sure I submit great photos when using this tag. Have resteemed and upvoted. Have a great week ahead! 😊

Nice idea and definitely something that needed to be done, hopefully people won't just start spamming the #photofeed tag as well!

Congtrats to @studiovers for being the first resteem!

Check out his post and show him some love!

Great ones. If i undetstand it right. I taged my post with photofeed and now I need to wait if you select my photos. I hope this photofeed will live on. Keep the good work and I hope I will be able to show the steem world my work. All best

Great initiative!

I am very new to Steemit, but I think I have some good photographs which people may like. Should I post them with photofeed tag?

I have almost no steempower, do you think it is wise to wait and build some steempower with my initial few days earnings before I start this?

I was interested in it after I saw you reesteem it yesterday and it was beyond my words of the photography . I love photography and visiting different places and taking pictures. I’ll go posting something up today with this tag

This is finally a game changer

Great to see. You may have just inspired me to start posting my photos again. I'd pretty much given up on posting single photos on here cos they just get lost in a sea of bad quality stuff. A quality photo should be treated the same as a 500 word article or a video. Some of them take just as long to set up for and postprocess. The problem is that they are undervalued and talented photographers find it hard to both get their own stuff noticed and find other good stuff to upvote. Good luck with this initiative and i'll see what i can post on here in the future.

That's a great initiative and it's a good solution for the short term until a bigger scale back end solution is constructed.

Because of that initiative I managed to make a good friend of me who is a talented photographer to coin the steem community!
So thanks for it cryptoctupus!!

I also joined your fan base and I'm gonna be a dedicated fan

The #photofeed tag is what I've been looking for in a long while after the bastardisation of the #photography tag.
Thankfully, this tag is in the right hands and right team and I'm sure to discover great photography posts from it.

I wish this project good luck for more publicity

Thanks @cryptoctopus

Happy Steeming

What a fantastic project! It was about time someone came up with a way to discover amazing high quality pictures from the Steem community. Thank you so much for this, following @photofeed now!

Wonderful!
Are there any eligibility or restrictions on participation? like Reputation score or having an active profile etc?
