Happy or Not?

And sometimes it happens that I have a day in between, in which I do not make my own foursome happy. Then I leave without them. And even worse, then I go with another owner, and the worst of all ... on the road with another dog ... on the road with the camera, another dog owner and another dog ... on the road to photograph the other dog.

My Passion!

Because photographing is simply what I prefer to do. And certainly if it is in combination with dogs. Dogs and photography both have a big place in my heart. So what better way to combine those two passions?

The way it goes!

And although we no longer have a car, we live in a beautiful part of our Netherlands. And I have everything here in my immediate environment to be able to take pictures of a dog in a beautiful environment. How does a photo shoot work? Well, due to lack of a car I can not travel very far to come to you unfortunately. So it is nice if you have the opportunity to come to me! Then we walk together with the dog (s). I have a beautiful piece of forest here, (Heeswijkse Bossen), where we walk in just five minutes from my house. There we go for a nice walk. If your dog listens, he can walk off-leash, but this is not an obligation! I can take pictures anyway. And there is always work after the shoot to remove leashes.

I always warn owners, "Know your dog!", There are wild animals in the woods, and if you have a hunter, it is not wise to let him go. Of course it is nice to have action photos, but not the intention that we can photograph the action of a dog that chases a roe, or even worse, will bite it dead. So if your dog is hunting, keep him on the leash. There are plenty of opportunities to make beautiful pictures, and also enough options to remove the leash in the post-processing.

I am not a photographer who wants a lot of tricks and tricks from you and your dog. What I do like to see is a "Happy Dog", a dog that has a partnership with you, a dog that is happy, comfortable with you, and willing to work with and for you ... and that controls the standard things like "Sit, Down & Stay". Taking a ball can be very useful, and some small reward sweets that your dog is extremely fond of ... that always works well to get a nice result.

Usually we just walk, we chat a little, make ourselves comfortably with each other, and talk ... of course about dogs, but that's all up to you ... and in the meantime I just pick up my moments to take pictures of your dog. Sometimes I will ask if you can let the dog sit, stand or lie next to, or on a natural object that looks beautiful on the photo. But mostly I observe the dog, get to know your dog in the first part of the walk ... and in the second part I try to estimate how I get the most beautiful natural pictures.

No Stress!

In this way I try to keep the whole photo shoot free from pressure, free of stress and a pleasant experience ... a real outing for both owner and dog.

And that makes my own foursome not so happy ... even some jealous. Because having that quality time, walking with me and my camera ... they want that too!
