The Rose, The Queen Of Flowers!

in #photofeed6 years ago

Roses have always appealed to the imagination of people. Many poems, quotes and wisdoms have been written about roses. Roses stand for Romance, Passion, Fire, Love, Passion. But roses have more symbolic meanings.

Roses have a long interesting history. Roses also have healing powers! So today a post about:

"The Rose, the Queen of Flowers".

Roses have been grown for their beauty for thousands of years. In antiquity this was already done in China and Africa, in Greece, Italy and Egypt. Roses were used to decorate temples and palaces and they were used for rituals.

Greek Mythology

According to Greek Mythology, the first red roses originated from the blood of Adonis. Red roses are dedicated to Aphrodite / Venus, the Three Graces and the Italian flower goddess Flora. Red roses symbolize, just like the goddesses they are dedicated to, eternal love and beauty. Even now, red roses are still known as a symbol of love and passion. According to Greek Mythology, roses were always white, until Adonis was badly wounded. Aphrodite / Venus wanted to help her Adonis. She injured herself with a thorn of a rose, her blood then colored the white rose red and so the red roses also became a symbol of love.

Chinese Symbolism

In Chinese symbolism people think differently. Here the rose is not at all a symbol of love, but a rose for Youthfulness.

Christianity

In Christianity the rose is a symbol of silence. On confessionals one often sees ornaments in the form of five-leaved roses. And in meeting rooms one often sees roses in the ceilings to indicate the silence / secrecy. Everything that was discussed "sub rosa" (under the rose), had to be kept secret For the very early Christians, the rose symbolized the five wounds of Christ. Later the rose became the symbol of the blood of the martyrs and Mary was often depicted with a rose as an attribute.

Alchemy

Red and white roses together are also symbolic of duality in Alchemy. Red stands for masculine and white for feminine, the two primordial principles sulfur (sulfur) and salt (sal). The seven petals of a rose are in the alchemy for the seven metals and the associated planets.

Rosicrucians

In the case of the Rosicrucians, the rose refers to the spiritual immortal principle that lies at the level of the physical heart. It is also known as the divine spark, the spirit spark, the primal atom, the pearl or the lotus. If this principle is not yet effective, the rose bud will be discussed. This can bloom at the crossroads of the horizontal and the vertical beams of the cross, which is a symbol for man. The horizontal bar of the cross refers to life in this world, the vertical to the influx of the divine light that shines in the world. When the spirit spark awakens, she can create an inner nostalgia and make a call from the original field of life.

Love

A rose in general symbolizes love, joy, happiness and affection. The heart-shaped leaves and leaves under the rose (sub rosa) all have a meaning in the direction of love and trust. The thorns on the rose symbolize the fact that life and love is not always about roses and the effort someone is willing to do for his sweetheart. Roses in a bouquet symbolize gratitude and 1 rose in a large bouquet stands for: you are the one I love, you are the only one for me. And did you know that not only the rose, but also the color of the rose has a certain symbolic meaning? I will tell you more about this another time.

Mystical meaning

The fact that the rose has such a mystical significance also depends on the construction of her flower. It is fifty-five, that is, it has 5 petals. In former times people attached particular importance to the number five, as "quinta essentia" the fifth essence.

But besides being beautiful, mysterious and a symbol of love, this queen of flowers also possesses medicinal properties.

Rose Oil

These properties are best expressed when making rose oil. And we immediately found an important point here, because rose oil is incredibly expensive. It is one of the most expensive oils in the world! This is because rose oil is made from the petals of the rose. This is because the medicinal properties are hidden. But to produce only 1 liter of rose oil, you need a weight of 5000 kilograms of rose petals. And 5000 kilos is equal to millions of petals. In addition, the method of production of rose oil can best be done in the most old-fashioned and at the same time labor-intensive way that you can imagine. Everything by hand and without the addition of chemicals.

Shiraz in Iran

At this moment you have spread all over the world only 4 regions known to grow roses to produce oil, and of those 4 there is only one that still obtains its oil in this old-fashioned very labor-intensive manual way. This is also the most expensive, but also the purest rose oil in the world. And this oil comes from Shiraz in Iran. In Shiraz the oil is made according to a whole process. Only Damask Roses are grown. The fertilization of the land is still done by Oxen who pull the plows through the country. No herbicides and pesticides may be used. Every day, every rose is manually checked for lice. And for the production of the oil the roses are distilled with pure mountain stream water.

A group of women then goes to work to pick the petals. These leaves are then placed in copper pans. As soon as the right weight of petals is in the pan, 3 parts of pure mountain stream water is added. The fire is an old-fashioned wood fire fueled by bellows. And by operating the bellows correctly, the petals are cooked on a low heat and condensed to water vapor in a sterilized vessel.

Because of this process, and the huge amount of leaves needed for only 1 liter, this rose oil is the most expensive in the world. But also the best with the best scent.

Healing Powers

The oil can be used in many ways, and can be used for a great many disorders. Rose oil and rosewater helps with many ailments of skin, heart, liver, eyes, mouth, veins, limbs joints. It is good for digestion, appetite, breathing, bruising, cuts and wounds, headaches, contagious diseases, gynecological problems and sexuality. This knowledge comes mainly from the Iranians, but corresponds to what large doctors from the past said. Much of this has been confirmed by modern scientific research carried out in Germany, Bulgaria and Iran.

Former Muslim doctors used rose oil to treat burns, ulcers, hemorrhoids and many other complaints. They also recommended drinking as a means to lower the fever.

Modern Science and the Rose

Modern scientists have also discovered the benefits of the rose. They noticed that the rose helps with sleep problems, against pain, coughing and palpitations, to improve memory, as an anti-inflammatory. It also appears that it has an antibacterial effect.

Powerful effect on the brain and the psyche

Clinical research shows that two types of roses, namely the Rosa Damascena and Rosa Centrifolia, both have a powerful effect on the brain. Laboratory tests also show that especially the Rosa Damascena Alzheimer can counteract. The scientists would do well to study the work of Ibn Sina in the fight against this modern epidemic.
The scent of the rose can also relieve depression and help people deal with difficult situations such as loss, sadness or fear. This effect can be achieved by taking a bath to which a few drops of rose oil have been added, or by evaporating the oil on an oil evaporator, in which the odor is released and spreads in the room. You can also spoil yourself with perfume of pure rose oil. Rose oil also seems to have a narcotic and titillating effect.

Period

For menstrual complaints, abdominal massage with rose oil is a natural way for pain relief. A study with women has established that massage with rose oil did indeed have a greater analgesic effect than a massage without oil or with just almond or olive oil. If you want to try this method yourself, do not forget that the oil, because it is so concentrated, can not purely be used on the skin. Always dilute the rose oil with a base oil such as almond, sesame or olive oil.

There is no flower in the world that speaks more to the imagination, there is no flower that evokes more association with Love and Romance.

And besides that this flower is of great beauty, she is also full of healing powers!

The Queen of Flowers

THE ROSE.
