Sunburst Peak and Mt Assiniboine

in #photofeed6 years ago (edited)

“Hang on to your youthful enthusiasms, you’ll be able to use them better when you’re older.” Seneca

One of the most iconic scenes in the Canadian rockies. Mt Assiniboine (the pyramid shaped mountain in the back left) and Sunburst Peak tower over Sunburst Lake and Cerulean Lake. It is hard to convey how big this vista actually is with a simple photograph. At 3,618 m (11,870 ft), Mt Assiniboine is the highest peak in the Southern Continental Ranges of the Canadian Rockies and rises over 1,500 m (5,000 ft) above the lakes at its base. Clear skies in this region have been a rarity these last two seasons with the smoke from the wildfires which have raged BC. I was fortunate to be able to get an opportunity to explore the remote areas around Assiniboine this summer during a small window after the smoke had cleared but before the snow came.

For a different perspective of this same vista after scrambling a lot higher up on Nub Peak you can check my other post here. You can really see how mugh bigger Assiniboine is compared to Sunburst from up there. The shots were taken in Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park is British Columbia, Canada.

Wow! What a stunning landscape. From all the photos I've seen the Canadian Rockies are gorgeous everywhere, but I haven't seen anything quite like this.

That's a majestic scene and I like the way you've composed it to keep the bottom in with the line of trees. Lovely reflection with barely a ripple in the water, great image.

Thanks. It is a majestic scene. It is hard to describe how wonderful it is to see in person.

Beautiful. I love the mountains. Ren

Dude, this is too good. Looks absolutely gorgeous. Resteemed.

wow, stunning picture! I can imagine the joy of seeing the clear sky after so many wildfires! good to see healthy forest still standing!

Are you kidding me! What a scene. INSANE

Wow, your photos are amazing, you have anew follower i love photos i buyed a nikon camer but i am still a newbie ^^

A wonderful shot! ..looks like Mt Assiniboine is the Canadian relative of the Swiss Matterhorn 😉 ..nice!

I felt bad when I upvoted because when I was looking at it, it said 88 upvotes and 8 comments, but feel slightly better though as after the refresh it said 90 and 9, and now it will be 90 and 10 but at least I didn't break it as badly ;D

On the one hand it is a bit difficult to grasp the scale from the photograph, but i think having an idea of how big the trees around it are hints at the grandness. And looks like you timed your lighting perfectly :)
