Sullivan Lake Washington

S U L L I V A N   L A K E

A few days ago I shared a photo of Sullivan Lake, Washington and as I was looking through the photos on my website I found this set of photos showing the same lake and surrounding area. The lake is nestled in the mountains of Northeast Washington with the nearest town being Metaline Falls about 7 1/2 miles from the north end of the lake. It is 21 miles south of the Canadian border with little in between except wilderness area.

_{There is a dam on the north end of the lake that regulates the water levels. Years ago however it is apparent that huge trees grew on land that is now mostly covered with water. This stump remains as a testament to a changing landscape.}

_{This photo shows the inlet to the lake on the south end. The north end has the lake's outlet and the historic Outlet Creek Bridge and Sullivan Lake Ranger Administrative Site.}

The mountains and wilderness areas around Sullivan Lake are often very quiet and empty compared to the more popular Priest Lake directly on the other side of the mountains to the east and in Idaho. I hope you enjoyed this post and make sure to get outside and enjoy nature every chance you get!
