The Ice Kingdom: early Spring's freezing rain, part 1
There has been dramatic weather in eastern Canada this week, with freezing rain on Monday and a snowstorm on Tuesday. The trees became clothed in ice, giving one the impression of being in a world of glass.
From up close, the young buds on the trees looked otherworldly beautiful.
The middle bud looks like an eye... I regret not having shot a photo directly from the front. It was difficult to visualize the results with a plastic bag over the camera's viewfinder.
I used a Tamron 90mm f/2.8 macro lens on a Sony a77 camera, covered in a raincoat.

They do give the impression of being cocoons of icy goodness, although I'm not sure the trees would feel it that way!
