ich habe mich mal wieder auf eine Radtour durch das Frankenland begeben, nachdem ich von einem Magen Darm Infekt genesen bin, der leider vergangene Woche meine Familie heimsuchte. Zielort war Marktheidenfeld am Main, das weniger als 30km entfernt von Wertheim flußaufwärts liegt. Wie man auf dem Titelfoto sehen kann, ist in Marktheidenfeld derzeit Kirmes.

I went on another bicycle tour through Franconia after I was infected with a gastrointestinal tract that unfortunately visited my family last week. The destination was Marktheidenfeld am Main, less than 30 km upstream of Wertheim. As you can see on the title photo, there is currently a fair in Marktheidenfeld.

Der direkte Weg nach Marktheidenfeld führt nicht am Main entlang, da dieser geschlängelt verläuft. Es ist wesentlich schneller über den Berg zu fahren. An diesem Ort (Foto), in der Nähe des Kreuzwertheimer Neubaugebeites, verlief vor vielen vielen Jahren das Flußbett des Mains.

The direct route to Marktheidenfeld does not run along the Main, as it is winding. It is much faster to drive over the mountain. Many years ago, the river bed of the Main ran through this place, near the Kreuzwertheim new construction site.

Marktheidenfeld liegt in Bayern - genauer gesagt in Franken. Das merkt man auch an den Speisen, die auf der Kirmes, die übrigens hier "Messe" heißt, angeboten werden. Zudem konnte ich auch sehr viele Messegäste in Trachten beobachten. Als Musikproduzent habe ich aber vor allem die Gelegenheit genutzt, der lauten Discomusik an den bunten Fahrgeschäften zu lauschen.

Marktheidenfeld is located in Bavaria - more precisely in Franconia. This can also be seen in the food offered at the fair, which is called "Messe" here by the way. In addition, I could also see a lot of fair guests in traditional costumes. As a music producer, I took the opportunity to listen to the loud disco music at the colourful rides.

Der Jahrmarkt trägt den Namen "Laurenzi Messi". Namensgeber ist natürlich St. Laurentius. Hier ein paar Bilder der St. Laurentius Kirche, die mitten in der romantischen Innenstadt liegt.

Auf dem Rückweg habe ich noch einen kleinen Abstecher auf den Golfplatz gemacht, der unweit von Marktheidenfeld auf dem Berg gelegen ist. Nein, ich spiele kein Golf, ich fahre nur einen! ;-) Die Dürre hat auch hier ihre Spuren hinterlassen. Von einem geflegten Grün kann leider nicht die Rede sein. Allerdings gefällt mir das Ambiente der Anlage sehr gut, hat man doch an vielen Stellen einen schönen Ausblick auf das Maintal und den Homburger Kallmuth.

On the way back I made a small detour to the golf course, which is not far from Marktheidenfeld on the mountain. No, I'm not playing golf, I only drive one! ;-) The drought has also left its mark here. Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a well-kept green. However, I like the ambience of the complex very much, as you have a beautiful view of the Main valley and Homburg Kallmuth vineyard in many places.

Mittlerweile war bereits die Abenddämmerung angebrochen. Die letzte Station der Radtour ist die Autobahnbrücke über die A3 bei Michelrieth. Gespenstisch schlängelt sich die Urlaubskarawane unter dem wachsamen "Blick" der untergehenden Sonne.

Meanwhile the dusk had already dawned. The last stop of the bike tour is the motorway bridge over the A3 at Michelrieth. The holiday caravan meanders ghostly under the watchful "view" of the setting sun.
