Architecture of Odessa - Nolle House - 45 Rishelievskaya Street

in #photography5 years ago

I discovered this house by accident. Frankly speaking, I didn’t really want to get the camera out of the bag. I am very tired. I was at the Odessa Maritime Station and walked towards the train station.

I took a lot of pictures and the strength left me already. I wanted to quickly get to the waiting hall, fall into a chair and wait for my train.

But how can you get past such a colorful building? Not its color, but a variety of architectural styles stopped me.

The windows and balconies of each floor carried something new. No, you can’t call it new, it concerns the peculiarities of the style that is called - non-Moorish, or Arabic style of architecture.

The sculpted, silt carved stone elements of each floor differ from each other. Look at the photos of these windows. By today's standards, this is a colossal work and a very high-quality artistic work.

The beginning of the history of this building expires from 1901. It is believed that this year it was built. But, it is believed that this building is older, that in 1901, it was restored, the building that had been renovated was renovated.

This house was the residence of the merchant, who was engaged in trade in pharmaceutical preparations. There were warehouses and trade.

Immediately there lived doctors who provided services to patients.

It is interesting how they agreed among themselves, who will have narrow and high windows, and who will have wide windows. Probably, this was somehow influenced by the table of ranks.

Balconies here are like a small snuffbox, or an ashtray, but, and they, all of different shapes.

The balconies of the upper floor of a triangular shape, they did not protect from the rain rectangular balconies, which are located on the floor below.

The triangular balcony and the arched vault of the window, for me, is a very strange combination that is difficult to fit into my concept of taste, but tastes differ.

The framing of the attic floor is made in the form of oriental patterns. It looks nice and atmospheric.

The central entrance to the building, there are more mysteries than in the entire structure as a whole. Do you understand what I'm saying? Now, I will try to explain it.

The whole building was built in the Arabic style, but look at the steel, forged grille above the entrance door. What do you see?

Right! Star of David!

This building can be called a symbol of peaceful coexistence of Arabs and Jews.

Behind all this luxury lies a simple truth, or a call - Let's live peacefully!

I could miss something, could not notice something, I was in a hurry, but if I again find myself near this building, I will give it much more attention.
