Milkyway Season 2019 has begun!

Stoney-Creek_Astro-Night-1_Mk2.jpg

My first Milkyway photo for the 2019 season. The last three nights have been great with clear skies and almost no wind. Probably should have slept more 😴
Up at 2am to catch the core rising over the horizon, trying out as many compositions and lighting setups before first light hides the stars again. Constantly learning/ relearning, it's heaps of fun playing with light on the landscape, trying to find the perfect light to complement the forms and textures then sitting back watching for shooting stars and other space phenomena while I sit and get my exposures. And so much wildlife/sealife that you just don't see during the day too!
Somewhere on the Southcoast of NSW.

WOW!! I would love to stand there for hours and admire this beauty in real :)

I know that it is probably a little bit edited but the original photo that you took must look great as well as otherwise you wouldn't be able to produce such amazing photo out of it :)

What exposure did you use to take this photo? Staying awake this long was absolutely worth it!

Thank you for sharing and have fun with stargazing :)

Thankyou @delishtreats (Cool name by the way!)

Yes a fair bit of editing has gone into this photo. But it does take getting the right photo to make all the magic happen.

This was a 20 second exposure at f/2.8 with an ISO of 2000.
I have used a technique called stacking to reduce digital noise in the sky and foreground. So in total there are 17 separate exposures stacked together for this one picture.

You are most welcome :)

Thank you! At the beginning many people thought that my account would only be about food but treats don't have to be linked to food only :) For me a treat can be anything what gives us some sort of pleasure so my account is all about travel, photography and food of course :)

I have never heard of this technique but I'm not a photographer so I guess this is the reason why :) It however sounds interesting.. I plan to develop my photography skills and I hope that one day I will be able to take this kind of photos too :)

Absolutely! Flavours come in many different forms :)
Well I have followed you too keep track of your flavour seeking adventures!

Nice. Still a bit cold for milky way astro here (-30 C ) but I do get out for the auroras this time of year.

Brrrr! Yeah don't know if i'd be going out for Astro in those temps!!!!
I would love to see the Auroras, definitely on my bucket list :)
Thanks

You should see one if you ever get the chance.

Wow! Beautiful photo! I'm delighted! :)

Thanks so much <3

Oh, I love these shots! How do you get such a clear photo of the milky way with such a bright light coming in from the left?

Thanks @bengy
I live in a fairly rural area with very dark skies.
The light is my own light and actually isn't that bright, the long exposure and a little tweaking in photoshop makes it seem much brighter than it is :)

Thanks for explaining! How long does it take to get a shot like that? Are you exposed for minutes? Or seconds?
