10 PHOTOS FROM MY SAFARI TO KRUGER NATIONAL PARK!

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Hello Steemians! It's Monday already. Have a great week ahead :) today let me share 10 photos that I was able to capture at the Kruger National Park while on safari.

Possibly one of the most famous parks in the world, Kruger is one of the largest game reserves on the continent and covers an area of 19,485 square kilometers, sharing borders with Mozambique to the east and Zimbabwe to the north. It became South Africa’s first national park in 1926. According to a report by the government, over 1.6 million people visit it each year.

I’ve long dreamed of going on safari to the Kruger National Park, spotting lions, elephants, cheetahs, leopards, and my personal favorite, the Rhino. You always hear how great Kruger is for safaris. It’s like an animal lover’s paradise.

Once there at 5am, it turned out to be the beginning of a long day. We spent hours searching for animals. Shane, our ranger, had the eyes of a hawk and the ears of a bat. He seemed to be privy to the slightest movement around us and made sure we saw as many animals as we possibly could, within the space of a day.

We saw wild boars lolling in the mud, herds of deer with sparkly eyes, cape buffaloes up close, lazy rhinoceroses, wilder beasts, and zebras by the dozen.

By the afternoon, the sun was beating down on us, but our enthusiasm didn't die. After a quick lunch at the center of the park at a food court of hamburgers and a lot of water, we were off for another leg of animal spotting.

By the end of the day, I was dead tired and I slipped into my bed thinking of all the stories I have to share from just a day in the wild.

Fact File:

1) The Kruger National Park Is Home To Over 12,000 Elephants, 27,000 African Buffalo, 1,000 Leopards And Lots Of Other Wonderful Wildlife.

2) The Kruger National Park Is The Largest Game Reserves In Africa? It Spans Across 19,633 Square Kilometers. That's Just Smaller Than The Size Of Belgium!

3) The Reserve Has 21 Rest Camps, 2 Private Lodge Concessions And 15 Private Safari Lodges!

4) The First Motorist Entered The Park In 1927, And The Entrance Cost Was Just £1!

5) Whatever Time You Head Out, You're Sure To Have An Unforgettable Experience!
