SPRINGTIME ADVENTURES , episode 26 - From another world

in #photography5 years ago

I like many things in nature ...
P1970751malo.jpg
... but on the top of my like list ...
P1960203malo.jpg
... are dark places with an alien and surreal atmosphere...
P1970750malo.jpg
... places like this one ...
P1960113malo.jpg
... where the snails look like coins ...
P1960113minikrop.jpg
... and small plants, like some fairy tale creatures, are looking at you ...
P1960292malo.jpg
... from the little round shaped windows ...
P1960293malo.jpg
... this is a humid slowly dissolving world, filled with cool surprises...
P1960223.JPG
... and is located deep down on the forest floor of the forest from the episode 20 - Under the old pines :)
... so if you would like to know more about the setting and see a bigger picture ... here is a link to that episode ...
https://steemit.com/photography/@borjan/springtime-adventures-episode-20-under-the-old-pines
... with that little digression out of the way, let's continue with this catalog of strange little things...
P1960092.JPG
... all of this is taking place on the large and long rotting branch of an old pine...
P1960091malo.jpg
... that gives life and shelter to many other plants, fungi, and creatures...
P1960229malo.jpg
... these very little snails have the ideal shape for moving and hiding in narrow spaces between the layers of wood ...
P1960202malo.jpg
... these ones are made for holes ...
P1970614malo.jpg
... snails and fungi are the most numerous things here ...
P1960175.JPG
... this is a place ideal for them ...
P1960095malo.jpg
... moist ...
P1970818malo.jpg
... dark ...
P1970818 minikrop.jpg
... hidden ...
P1960195malo.jpg
... here you can see a small snail and a very small translucent milliped ...
P1960196.JPG
... I was photographing the snail, didn't notice the milliped until I saw the photographs on PC ... the millipede has a bit of motion blur because of the slow shutter speed in this place with scarce light, for a slow-paced snail was ok but the millipede was too fast...P1960266.JPG
... there are also small patches of moss here ...
P1970820malo.jpg
... and sometimes on the moss ...
P1970820minikrop.jpg
... strange little spheres ...
P1960256.JPG
... I saw many collembolas ...
P1960197malo.jpg
... but they are too small for a good shot ...
P1960190malo.jpg
... more like micro than macro ...
P1960200.jpg
... s this is the best I could do with this camera ... and is not much ...
P1960164malo.jpg
... fortunately, this spider was bigger ...
P1960165.JPG
... but I had time only for a short look ... he soon disappeared into a hole in the wood ...
P1960151malo.jpg
... I saw many small scorpions ...
P1960129.JPG
... under the bark ...
P1960132malo.jpg
... they are well adapted for this claustrophobic place ...
P1960139malo.jpg
... on the surface, the ivy is grabbing the wood with this tentacle-like little roots ...
P1960263malo.jpg
... very alien looking thing ...
P1960262malo.jpg
... and this little arthropod was passing by ...
P1960260.JPG
... directed to some shady place ...
P1960259.JPG
... and I was there ...
P1970762malo.jpg
... amazed ...
P1970763malo.jpg
... exploring with the camera ...
P1960217.JPG
... all the different fungi formation ...
P1960101malo.jpg
... and many snails ...
P1960115.JPG
... yep ...
P1960121.JPG
... and small plants in little holes ...
P1960110malo.jpg
...some of them looked very shy ...
P1960210malo.jpg
... like little creatures hiding in their holes ... like some sorts of green squirrels ... or something like that ...
P1960209.JPG
... and now ...
P1960106malo.jpg
... with a few more pictures ...
P1960097malo.jpg
... of fungi ...
P1960096malo.jpg
... and more fungi ...
P1960172.JPG
... and snails ...
P1960169.JPG
... and more snails ...
P1970615malo.jpg
... and lovely small gardens ...
P1960289malo.jpg
... with different plants ...
P1970748malo.jpg
... it's time ...
P1960111malo.jpg
... to end this story ...
P1970755malo.jpg
... ups ... I almost forgot this bug nymphae...
P1960099.JPG
... and so ...
P1960118.JPG
... that's it for today ...
P1960233malo.jpg
... hope you like this strange and creepy little place ...
P1960221malo.jpg
... or at least find it interesting ...
P1960184.JPG
... have a good day ...
P1960167malo.jpg
... or night ...
P1970752malo.jpg
... wherever on the planet you are ...
P1960240.JPG
( As always on these posts on Steemit, all the photographs are my work. )

Sort:

Epic shots looks like you found wolf's milk slime mold (the orange squishy fungi) and some puffball mushrooms (the round ones). I have also seen the little white finger looking mushrooms but have yet to identify them, the ones over here are orange. Nice macros 🕷

I will gladly sett @steemstem as a beneficiary to my post to get stronger support... but first I must figure out how to do that

Hi @borjan, Another delightful, unique post. I'm easily confused by the blockchain, but I've got the beneficiary designation down. You post on Steemstem.io, using steemconnect to do that. I opened my second account @agmoore2 specifically to use steemconnect. That wasn't necessary, but I proceed with caution because of my ignorance :)
Once you post on steemstem.io, there's a place at the bottom of the blog for you to designate a beneficiary. It's a little box.
Hope you don't mind my popping in here.
Wishing you the best--many walks through this mysterious world of ours. Looking forward to seeing more of that world through your very distinct lens.

Thank you :) this is very helpful, comments are always welcomed here ... today I took the day off from going around with a camera and stayed at home to prepare the pictures and video about a peculiar abandoned church in the woods ... coming soon :)

What a journey! It really does look like an alien place and you've captured it well.

:) Glad you like this photo story

I'm always a little sad when your stories end. I enjoy them so much! I don't know if I've mentioned it before, but I'm pretty sure either you or your camera are magic! I love the tiny worlds you discover.

:) hehe, it's a bit magic, like in The Twilight Zone, when you need an adventure camera makes you small and brings you to these fantastic places... but is also a bit magic because is old and I bad shape :) zoom and a few options don't work and when you push the shutter button sometimes is like blocked and you must push more but sometimes you just touch the thing and it makes a lot of pictures in a row and is unpredictable :) looks like real magic ... it's a compact camera with messed electronics, a friend give it to me for free when he bought a DSLR, and just like in an old Twilight Zone episode - he had a strange smile on his face ..... td dd tdd ddd tdd dd ( this is kind of onomatopoeic representation of the Twilight Zone intro theme :) I adore that TV series )

Well, that proves it then. It's you who is magic! I love the tiny hidden worlds within the world we usually see. I don't know how to capture it but you do. If you can do all that with a messed up camera, holy cow! I've been playing with macro shots with my phone camera the last couple of days and it takes a lot of patience! And a steady hand. I absolutely love your posts! I look forward to them every day.

True, photographing this world of miniatures, where you must get close and many living things are running and flying around, takes patience :) and a bit of frustration is often there.

I have been frustrated more because of my phone camera. I can't always make it focus on what I want to shoot. That makes me crazy.

Beautiful pix

Thank you

Very beautiful magical-forest-like stuff!

:) Glad you like these small, usually well hidden, wonders of the woods. Under and inside every rotten piece of wood and under every stone lies some surprise, especially now in spring.
