Less Than A Week Leave Days: 5 Days in Phuket!

I know what you’re thinking, ‘oh no, yet another travel article on Phuket..’ Well let me stop you right there, because I too could relate once upon a time, before I actually started living here for close to a year now.

Phuket beyond tourism, honestly still is an extremely amazing island to visit.. If and only if you know what you’re looking for. So, before I begin.. Do you?

Full on nature, foodie trip, party central, health retreat, family time, ooh-lala with your lovaa, uuurgh the list does go on! Don’t just hop onto any booking site and click “Patong” because majority of travelers that visit Phuket have a bad habit of staying in Patong and later whining that they did not receive the “authentic Thai experience”.

Research is key my little travel bugs!

Here’s a little geographical breakdown of Phuket for you lot so planning your trip with limited days get’s a little easier.

The island is devided into three geographical sections; Mueng Phuket, Kathu and Thalang. Mueang Phuket covers the southeastern region, Kathu the western coastline and middle sections of the island and Thalang the northern areas of Phuket. (Got this off a site but I ter-tutup it so I can’t reference it :( :( )

Aaaand we’re back to the topic at hand; 5 days in Phuket.

Day 1

Such a popular activity but such a goodie! Island hopping! Now, the best part about this is it can literally be done from any part of Phuket you’re staying at AND it can be done as a group or couples activity. A popular choice would be to the Phi Phi Islands. I’ll let you decide the rest, on which island you’d love to visit! Island hopping in general would usually take up half a day if not more and transfer arrangements can always be made at your hotel, guesthouse, travel agents, or just by stopping a local Thai that dodgy-ly hangs by all those speedboats and longboats. I guarantee you, you won’t be putting yourself in any danger. Well..in danger of a rip off maybe, but besides that no real harm.

Day 2

Tired from yesterday’s island hopping? Slow it down a little by walking through Phuket’s Old Town. Built on the success of Phuket’s tin boom from yester-years, this town is unlike any other as it’s Sino-Portugese architecture really shows throughout town. Have a cup of coffee in one of the unique cafes, visit an art gallery or two, send a little prayer at the many temples and shrines or get culturally stimulated by visiting a public museum!

To be continued in a week.
