On my way out of the mountains, heading east to Calgary I stopped at the Nakiska Ski Hill in Kananaskis, Alberta.

Nakiska! That's where the downhill events were held at the 1988 Winter Olympics.

I'm surprised it wasn't at Lake Louise as the World Cup events are held there now.

Yes! Nakiska may have been built for the games; I think the freestyle jumps were. But Lake Louise had a major expansion right around when I was out there (late 90's), so I bet it's the new territory that has WCup worthy runs.
