Amatola day 5-6

So at the end of day 4 I sat down on the bed looking at the map and trail that was on it and saw a loop trail that could provide a way to cut one whole day of hiking off. Many of us were injured and could do with a day less of hiking.

The next day started and we left even earlier to see if we could get to the end to be able to get home in time for new years. The sun only came through the trees a few km's into the hike. Once again we had a very steep accent onto the top of the gorge.

Once we hit the top we had such a lovely view of where we came from the previous day and where we were headed. We continued on a gentle slop up the rest of the mountain till we got to the connection of the loop hiking trail and the day 5 hiking trail. This is where everyone decided that they were going to take the loop trail and follow it back to the end of the day 6 hiking trail.

The loop trail was really hard and had a lovely up hill, thus we had a 10km to 11km assent from the start of the hike, but taking a whole day off of the hike was worth it. Once we got near the end we were able to descend into one last gorge. It was beautiful, but after all we had been through on the hike we hated every second of it and just wished that the end was near.

The finish was so nice, I finished with my cousin and a family friend and we had to wait there for everyone to arrive, that took a few hours. It was a really good thing that we decided to take the root as my uncle had to go to the hospital as soon as we got home.

No one died or got seriously injured on this hike.
