Dandelion Photo Shoot

Looks like this is becoming a habit for me. I mean to pick a subject and dedicate a blog post to it. Today my main actress is dandelion, as it's dandelion time now.

We have some in the garden as they grow wildly without any care.

I tried to take as many photos as possible and capture the flower in each state of evolution. The flowers on the photos above are not fully open.

This one is starting to close, the edges of the petals are starting to dry off.

Lucky me, I found one that still had the yellow petals on the edge of the fluffy seeds.

This is the phase I like the most. I love these little fluffy seeds.

Seeds, seeds, seeds, ready to be blown away but the wind.

Finally, the bald flower. This is what's left of it.

Anyway, dandelion is a wonderful flower for kids to play with. They love to blow these fluffy seeds away. I wanted to take some shots while someone was blowing the seeds away but got some very bad photos. I believe a video would have been more appropriate.

Dandelion leaves are edible. I've been planning to try them out but somehow I never do. Last year it was too late already as the leaves need to be used when still young. This year it happened the same thing, I was late again. Maybe next year, who knows?
