The grapes

in #photography6 years ago (edited)

Did you know you can use grape leaves to preserve cucumbers? Not pickling. It is more like kimchi I guess.. sour, but without vinegar.
You just stick cucumbers in a jar, add spices and the grape leaves, salted water and let the nature do the job :)

You can also roll the leaves with rice and meat inside and make a delicious dish.

Or just sit under the Grapevine shade and enjoy the light coming though :)

I did not know that. Learn something new everyday. Have you done the whole process before? If so, what types of spices do you like to use?

Yes, we (my mum actually) does the cucumber magic every year.
It is always the same mix: fresh garlic, fresh horseradish root, fennel seeds with some stalks, bay leaf, the grape leaf (or oak leaf) and then lots of salted water.
You can google "ogorki kiszone" :p

I might prefer to sit and get the shade form the vine leaves. much better feeling if your stomach is full. lol

First eat some, drink some wine and then sit under. What a versatile plant! :)

i have them all around me! Great information
