This is the July 2018 Update of the Fiftysixnorth Steemit PhotoContest List:
This is a comprehensive list of photo challenges and contests being run on steemit. As time goes on this information will change and this list will get updated. If you know of a challenged or contest that is not on this list or that is no longer running, please let me know in the comments.
Disclaimer: I know this isn’t everything, its what i could currently find or that I am aware of at the moment.
Some of you may notice I haven't posted this list in a while, I failed to post updates on this in the past 2 months. Oops! To add to that failure I meant to post this a good 6 hrs ago but got sidetracked... you see today was my birthday and I was more focused on the celebrations that posting to steemit. Sorry about that!
So What’s the Point?
So what’s the big deal about photoconcests on steemit? Why should you care? Well aside from the fact that you can boost your earnings a bit by winning a contest here or there, it’s a great way of increasing your visibility. Lots of people take part in these competitions so not only will they see your work, you will see theirs. You will also meet new people, perhaps make some friends as well. Its a great way to become part of the community on steemit and be seen. This can only do good things for your follower count and post engagement. It has helped mine, i’ve noticed that whenever I have won a contest my followers increased more quickly than at any other time!
Prizes
Some award prizes for winning, some don’t, usually the prizes take the form of SBD, sometimes STEEM.
Tags
Most competitions have tags they require you to use when posting your submission. Others just ask you to submit in the comments of the announcement post.
Important Warning
I cannot stress this enough: Only submit your own original work! Don’t go online and find an awesome photo made by someone else and submit that. It is cheating, its immoral and the people that run contests always check every entry. Not only will you automatically be disqualified from the contest, you could be blacklisted and your reputation will be shot to hell, people will remember you as the person that posts other people’s work as their own. That’s a big no no in the photography community.
A Request
If anyone knows how to do anchor links in steemit markup please tell me how its done or point me to a link.. as this list gets longer it would be great to have a table of contents at the top to allow readers to jump down to the specific content info they are after instead of scrolling themselves into oblivion.

I tried looking it up, but it was a year ago and I must not have labeled it right. Basically, people take pictures of anyplace they go that money is exchanged for services or goods. It can be a food market, museum. amusement park, I have even taken them on a cruise. :) The basic premise is to share cultures from around the world every Friday. It is very popular and the best exposure is when they drop the link in the comments of my #MarketFriday post.
Check out this weeks. Not a typical market, but, they don't have to be! That is half of the fun!

That is a whole load of contest to enter! I never realised there were so many being run now - it is a great way to have fun, share your own original photos and maybe even win something.
