Agricultural Landscapes (Original Photography)

Howdy,

Last evening, the farmers all seemed to be out in the fields. After getting a late start, thanks to a frigid winter and chillier-than-average spring, planting was delayed and the gurus of growing are two weeks behind where they'd like to be. Fortunately, the weather has been warm and dry for the last week or so, allowing them to get seseds in the ground and start fertilizing and spraying.

Farmer Dusty

This first shot is a sprayer. I'm no expert, but I'm guessing the spray is a pesticide. The dry heat has left the fields dusty and the clouds kicked up by tractors can be seen for quite a way. They almost look like low-lying clouds, wafting across the fields.

"Parker," all right!

Don't ask what's in the plastic tubs. The trailer is a gravity cart and seed tender, used for planting.

"Green" Straws

Hay! No... Straw! The earlier rains have been great for the grasses, so the straw and hay production are doing well. This is a half-mown field of straw. It looks like the farmer has just finished loading up the wagon and left the equipment parked in the field overnight.

Farm Equipment Cemetery

Here's an interesting collection of old farm equipment. The thing on the far left is an old hand-powered cement mixerr. It looks like a lot of work to operate, but it's certainly a lot easier than mixing concrete with a shovel. I have personal experience with the latter.

Oh too funny...I too have a LOT of personal experience mixing concrete with a shovel! We were in the 80's when you were having nasty cold weather, but now we are 56 - 60 brrrrr. Oh well, it makes for great yard working weather :)

Yeah..., if you don't have evil, nasty gnats! We have swarms of them!

I love these! Hay season is almost upon us here, too. My back is aching just thinking about it.

We have had a couple days straight with no rain, but I can't imagine they can stir up that amount of dust here yet.

Howdy sir fotosdenada! great farm photos there, love em! I've had too much experience with concrete too, what did you build, or was it many times?

For awhile there, it seemed like every time I visited my parents, my dad needed me to mix concrete. The outdoor staircases were probably the biggest job.

Oh that sounds brutal! It's all back-breaking work.

Wonderful rural scenes @fotosdenada.......especially the last one with the old farm equipment laying haphazardly in the long grass.
