Back Road Drive: Deterioration (Original Photography)

Howdy!

The area around Mankato, Minnesota (USA) is very agricultural. Much of the plain is controlled by large corporate farms, but this area still has many smaller family farming operations. Along the hills and bluffs of the river valleys, many of the older barns can still be seen. Some have been well maintained. Others, not so much.

^{A Dash of Dilapidation}The sky cleared off around three o'clock and the lighting was perfect. This dilapidated barn caught my eye up on a little rise. Even the trucks out front are old, although at least the vehicles look like they've been maintained.

^{Time to Renovate!}This property still gets some use, judging by the modern silo in the background. The two wooden structures have seen better days, though. The pile of rubble off to the left was once a farm house. Now, it would be a great source of weathered wood for interior decorating, or at least firewood.

^{Huff, Puff, and Blow}The above corn crib is not long for this world. It's actually a surprise that today's 30mph (about 50 kph) winds didn't blow it down flat!
