What Is It Like Camping In Patagonia For A Week?

in #photography6 years ago

It is basically like a fairy tale. Waking up to the tallest Andes surrounding you, waterfalls everywhere you look to drink from, and rivers to bathe in.

Now, washing the dishes in the ice cold water.. and bathing in the river on a cold day, is not such a fairy tale.

Also there might be a cow or two depending on where you choose your campsite, but they're pretty friendly if you don't get too close to their babies like I did. We won't talk about that though.

I know. You're probably thinking what is up with this girl's camping gear, in the photo below.

I can explain.

Well you see....camping for a week, hiking for hours every day we knew we were gonna need a̶ ̶y̶e̶a̶r̶s̶ ̶w̶o̶r̶t̶h̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶f̶o̶o̶d̶, a lot of food.

So the day prior to heading up, we went food shopping. By the time we had packed and split all of it evenly between my friend's pack and mine, we realized just how heavy the packs were, and how awkward it was going to be carrying them!

This campsite is in Chile, Valle Cochamo - La junta. This area includes countless hiking trails to get to the best lookout points. Includes glaciers, waterfalls!

If anybody has questions on how to get here, I'll be more than willing to see how I can help!

This is a pretty spectacular place if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world. I recommend it to all :)
