Chasing The Beauty Of Autumn - On The Waterfall, Part 1

in #photography5 years ago

This is the series of my little trip to different locations to capture some beauty of the Autumn. A month ago I had a strong urge to go somewhere and get some beautiful and colorful autumn photos. Unfortunately, the weather was horrible 90% of the time and even when there was some sunshine, I was at work. Fortunately, there was a weekend full of sunshine 2 weeks back and that was just what I needed. On 14th October I decided to go and drive to several nice locations where I could find some colors. This series is going to be at least 4 parts long, maybe even 5. It depends how many photos I like and keep after post processing.

In this first part and the first place on that day I went was Keila waterfall. This is the place I love to go to in the summer and as well in the winter to see those frozen sculptures and ice caves. I wasn't sure how many colorful photos I could get there with the waterfall but the weather was nice and the sun was golden so perfect conditions.

Of course, soon I saw that there are colors everywhere and I could possibly get nice results.

There is also a hydroelectrical powerplant at the side of the waterfall. I didn't take any photos of that this time. The power plant has been operating there many decades now.

No doubt I will be going back there sometime in the winter, after the very cold period to see this place all frozen. After all, this place is only 20 kilometers away from my home so I should visit this place even more often.

These are all great images, @greddyforce. An amazing look at nature.

Of these, the image that stands out the most is No. 2, the one with the falls in the background and the yellow leaves in the foreground. The blue and white of the falls contrasts beautifully with the leaves, making both standout in vivid fashion.

We have some falls where we live, but none are quite like this one. It's kind of like Niagara Falls, but in miniature, which makes it much more inviting. I bet it looks spectacular in winter.

Congratulations on the curie. Very much deserved.

Thank you! It really is an amazing place yes. In the winter when its all frozen its totally another sight.

Gorgeous photos @greddyforce! The colors are stunning. Where exactly is this located in the world?

I live in the United States and I recently went to northern Wisconsin with my family to see what fall had to offer. Not the first place you'd think of for fall colors hahaha but they were quite spectacular as well! It's gotta be one of the coolest things to take pictures of because it's only visible for such a small window of time during the year.

The very first photo is spectacular. That sun peeking through the trees with the waterfall in the foreground. Really nice job. Thanks for sharing!

It's awesome you like these photos! Yes, for fall photographing you need to be at the right place in this small time frame. Weather also plays a big role to get perfect shots out of it.

Well, this waterfall is far from you in that case. This location is situated in northern Estonia. If you ever visit northern Europe or Estonia, this is one place to see!

Yes, very far away from me! Funny enough though I know many people from Estonia, Tallinn specifically, and I really want to visit. It looks like a beautiful country. And although it's cold there, I should be use to it since I'm from Chicago in the United States 😂. There's a small company that operates there called Mindvalley. I'm friends with many of the people that run this company. So maybe one day I will get to see it!

Oh oke, never heard of the company though. Its cold in the winter but if you visit in the summer its really warm. This summer was even exceptionally hot. Estonia has huge seasonal weather contrast :D

Yeah it's a small company. I know they have operations there but mainly operate out of Malaysia. Anyway, I've heard great things about Estonia and would love to visit any time of year. Perhaps one day I'll get the opportunity.

Keep up with the great photos! I think you've got some killer shots.

I will, thanx!

isn't Autumn the most beautiful and romantic season? Amazing location, very lovely photographs.

Yeah it is and thank you!

I hike every weekend but these am hectic as I release a video today and travel early november so missing thevmajor leaves shift and already regretting sigh

Well, there is always the next fall so no worries :)

Hi @ greddyforce, Honestly this is an expectation for my eyes.

As a nature photographer I must tell you that the composition, the framing and reframing are clean, as well as the use of the diaphragm and that play of shadows and direct light make it a delight to see the captures.

autumn gives a warm colors in the middle of a temperate climate that I find fascinating. the white balance is in its right place, it should be doubly pleasant to go for a walk and take advantage of making captures.

there is one photo in particular that i like very much because it has a kinetic effect. it is that of trees with shadows. if you see from one throne to another, it produces ocular spasms, fabulous friend thank you for sharing these fascinating photographs worthy of an @curie <3

greetings peace and love

Thank you for these words! I'm glad you found these photos worthy of curie. Photographing nature is my passion.

Nothing, hear what type of camera do you use? only super aungular lenses or you just need the classic and not so dear 18-55. I for nature depending use more than all telephoto lenses because I capture animals, in some landscapes use 50mm and the rest of the landscapes use 28mm and 18-55.?

I use Nikon DSLR. I have 18-105 nikkor lens and also a 18-55 macro in case I really want them close up details of something. Right now im saving for professional class Tamron telephoto lens. 70-200 f2.8 g2.

good choice. the only nikkor lens I have is the 18-55 ... the rest are a 50mm 1.8 series E and a 28mm 2.8 of the same series both obviously analogous. I have a macro objective 70-180 manual rokinon and an etleobjective 28-200 also manual rokinon ... sometimes I suffer with the focus but I have gotten used ... really those old lenses are a jewel of engineering. you could buy a manual nikon telephoto lens are more economical and so learn to focus manually. and what camera do you have? I have a d5000 nikon had a d800 but I definitely changed to the old for two things one for the quality and the other for the cutting factor. for landscapes and macro photography not much a full frame camera, especially for macro photography.

greetings again

I have Nikon D5600. Although at some point I would want to get full frame one as well but no hurry with that.

excellent camera, excellent brand <3

Of course, always wait for the right time, the full picture in my case I see more useful at the cinematographic level. do you make videos?

Not much but rarely I take some clips and edit them together afterwards.

I'm not sure if there is an intended irony in your username. The word "force" is the name given to a waterfall in the north of England. I recently came back from a trip there and got some images of "Cotter Force" and "Mill Gill Force" (which you can see on my blog)

Greddy Force would be the perfect name for a waterfall on "Greddy Beck" ("Beck" being the word used to describe a small river or stream)

Great post :)

Heh some new information for me :D Nothing is intended in my username. I just randomly created it many years ago and to this day I still use it.

Fantastic, it looks like a completely magical place, it's as if it was perfectly arranged by a lot of specialists to record a movie about a fairy tale.

Heh yeah, you should see this place in person.

That waterfall looks like something out of a fantasy story. Especially with all those colours. Where exactly is Keila Waterfall situated? I need to put that on my list of places to visit.

Yeah with fall colors this place is amazing. Basically this place is situated in northern Estonia, near Keila-joa village. If you type Keila Waterfall into google maps, it gives you an exact location and its easily accessible.

Thanks. If ever I return to Europe, I'll have to mark it on my map.

Your photos are always so beautiful. I love the first one. The waterfall is amazing and then sun peeking through the trees is nicely captured.

I also struggle to get out now when it's getting colder. It was even snowing yesterday! And if it doesn't snow then it's raining. We haven't seen sun for almost a week now. And I guess that the next time we will see it will be next year :D

I haven't photographed anything frozen yet but I'm planning to try some waterfall or lake this year. It sound as a lot of fun!

I hope you will get some more sunny days and opportunities to shoot!

Great to hear! Estonia has this same weather issue right now. Mostly its wet outside and there is so little daylight that I cant make it to see it after work, usual northern country problems :D

You definitely should capture frozen waterfalls and stuff. I have and its amazing, will do again this year.
