Take all the cliches of a fairy-tale castle ruin you can imagine and you'll get Emmerberg! I've never seen such an impressive castle ruin before. It's located just a few kilometers from my place and I flew over it with my drones many times, but I've never visited it because I was told it's closed. The structure is massive, romantic, overgrown, abandoned, unstable and dangerous - left to the forces of erosion and decay. It's locked for visitors due to danger of collapse and consequently not easily accessible.

I visited the place with @leoplaw already twice and I'll certaily visit it again! Here is my first batch of shots!

UPDATE: Don't miss the second part of this photoshoot!

stunning photos - these are the kind of places I love to visit.
Find it on Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/PEXCxV8AzNx
There is no English Wiki I could find, only German:
Burgruine Emmerberg
It says in the Wiki:
? Heute darf das Gelände der Burgruine wegen Baufälligkeit nicht betreten werden ?
(en) Today, the grounds of the castle ruin may not be entered due to dilapidation

Interesting, like anybody would heed - considering the one shot with lots of graffiti.
One of the pictures sort of makes me think it might be used in a horror film where virgins are sacrificed.

Yes, it definitely could be great scenery for all sorts of weird movies!

Now I see where you pull ideas for paintings from @gric, this looks like landscapes from another planet. Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Thank you @jungwatercolor for your feedback!

Oh my this looks an amazing place! The paintings that could be set here are endless. The curve and crag of the stone. The twist and turn of the vine and root. This place just looks magical. It has the feel of post apocalyptic mixed with ancient ruin.

Yes, it's a magical place. I'm curious how it will look in autumn or on a foggy winter day.

Niceeeeeeee!

Glad you like it! :-)

Oh wow! I'd be cavorting around in there (carefully!) closed or otherwise, it's magnficent!

Wow...so nice place... really wonderful your photoshoot..my friend love you
