New to Steemit. Come say hi!

Hey, all! I'm new to Steemit. I guess a little about me. I'm an aspiring street and landscape photographer that works mostly in medium format and 5x7 large format film photography. My main camera of choice is the Pentax 6x7 second gen (with mirror lock-up) with a 105mm f/2.4 and orange filter and an 1897 Rochester Optical Co. 5x7 glass plate large format field camera that has been outfitted to take 5x7 sheet film with a Kodak Ilex 170mm f/6.3. I shoot Portra 400 and Ilford HP5 plus 400 on my Pentax and Ilford HP5 plus 400 on my 5x7.

I would have to say my main inspiration for my work comes heavily from W. Eugene Smith, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Ansel Adams (Obviously haha). I guess one more inspiration worth mentioning would be from my dad's old lace mill I grew up in. It gave me an appreciation for all things dark and grimy. There were no windows, no other employees and the smell of gear grease and belts attacked you when entering the giant brick and ivy laden box.

I've won some contests for my street and landscape photography from the local area which I live (Upstate New York). I guess that's it for now. I'd love to hear your story and see your shots! Here are some of my more recent works.

This is a shot from the inside of a clocktower built in the early 1900's in my home town. The thing was massive!! at least 10 feet around. I'm friends with the owner and he let me go explore the building. I like how the clock is aged and decrepit, it symbolizes the passing of time. (To me at least, feel free to give your meanings!)

This is just a shot of some stranger wandering down an alley way in Schenectady, NY. I love how the alley way draws you down the path and the guy is out of focus (on purpose) it kinda gives you a sense of mystery and wonder to where he's going.
