Back to the lake

in #photography5 years ago (edited)

Minnesota is known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Evidently that is an understatement, and we have over 12,000. But it really depends on your definition of a lake. Some, for example, are just small to mid-sized ponds.

At any rate, we spend a lot of time at, on, or near lakes here, in the warm months. So brace yourself. I will be posting a lot of water pictures. Yesterday’s Actifit post was about walking by the lake at sunset. I was back on the the trail near Lake Minnetonka for a long walk with my husband tonight (technically last night because it is after midnight now).

It was a beautiful evening. For a portion of our walk we were near a marina where there were some impressive yachts. There were also people fishing.

And finally, my step count, which I missed posting because I nodded off just before midnight!

Nice pics of the lake! I just got out for a long one this morning garnering about 4500 steps. But my son who had gone out before me and came back after me got twice that this morning! What is it about the lake that makes a person want to walk?

It's so amazing to see light on the water, and how the reflections change depending on the time of day, the clouds, the boats and the structures surrounding the lake. Even if you go to the same lake at the same time every day, it is not the same from one day to the next. Glad you guys are getting out and enjoying the springtime!

Minnesota must be a place of many attractions with only that large number of lakes or ponds. Your photos are very inspiring. I especially liked the first three. There is a beautiful word in Spanish that I can't find in English: "arrebol". That's what can be said about that picture of sky and mountain wrapped in the orange and golden glow of the light of the sunset, which dyes the water of the lake as if it were a mirror.
The last photo reminded me of a painting by René Magritte that I think is called "The empire of lights".
A pleasure to visit for the first time his blog, @jayna. Greetings.

Thank you very much for visiting, @josemalavem. I am afraid we don’t have a word for that in English, much to my dismay. I think we should get one immediately! I am thrilled to that one of my photos is reminiscent of a Magritte painting. “Life imitates art!” 😁
